Sebaceous gland organoid engineering

open access: yesBurns & Trauma
Abstract Sebaceous glands (SGs), as holocrine-secreting appendages, lubricate the skin and play a central role in the skin barrier. Large full-thickness skin defects cause overall architecture disruption and SG loss. However, an effective strategy for SG regeneration is lacking.

A Novel Sprayable Fibrinogen/Glycosaminoglycans/Collagen‐Based Bioink for Skin Wound Healing Applied by a Handheld Dual‐Head Airbrush

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐head airbrush‐based spraying device, combined with a fibrinogen bioink enriched with glycosaminoglycans and collagen, enables the delivery of biomaterials and cells to promote wound healing. This system demonstrates effective skin regeneration in vitro and in vivo, with comparable results to autografts.

Equal opportunities in stemness. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Tissue renewal requires proliferative progenitors with long-lasting potential. Designated stem cells within specialized niches are considered to be the primary mechanism for this requirement.

Olfaction scaffolds the developing human from neonate to adolescent and beyond [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The impact of the olfactory sense is regularly apparent across development. The foetus is bathed in amniotic fluid that conveys the mother’s chemical ecology.

Modular Platform for Rapidly Investigating Long‐Distance Propagation of Human Neural Network Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the first human neural organoid culture model capable of rapidly exhibiting long‐distance neural network propagation, thus delivering a system to experimentally investigate large‐scale communication during normal and diseased states.

Injectable Dual‐Crosslinked Poly(oligo(Ethylene Glycol) Methacrylate) Hydrogels Inspired by Mussel Adhesion for Cutaneous Wound Healing and Functional Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Injectable POEGMA‐DA hydrogels, dual‐crosslinked via dopamine self‐polymerization and dynamic hydrazone bonds, provide a safer alternative to invasive wound closure methods and toxic bioadhesives. Mimicking skin‐like mechanics, they achieve effective tissue adhesion for acute dermal wounds, supporting improved healing outcomes, including reducing ...

Lrig1 Expression in Human Sebaceous Gland Tumors

open access: yesDermatopathology, 2016
Background: Sebaceous glands contribute significantly to the barrier functions of the skin. However, little is known about their homeostasis and tumorigenesis.

Histological characterisation of the skin of the Paraechinus hypomelas, Brandt, 1836 (Erinaceidae: Eulipotyphla)

open access: yesFolia Morphologica, 2020
Background: The current study represents the first description of the histological characterisations of the normal skin of Brandt’s hedgehog (paraechinus hypomelas).
