Energy analysis of secondary droplet atomization schemes

open access: yesInternational Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2020
Abstract This paper presents the energy analysis of the secondary atomization of droplets with various component compositions. We use the following four schemes together or separately: initial droplets colliding with each other, interaction with a solid wall, droplet transformation due to the oncoming air flow, and micro-explosive breakup of a ...

CHARACTERIZATION OF SECONDARY ATOMIZATION AT HIGH OHNESORGE NUMBERS

open access: yes, 2019
A droplet subjected to external aerodynamic disturbances disintegrates into smaller droplets and is known as secondary atomization. Droplet breakup has been studied for low Ohnesorge (Oh < 0.1) numbers and good agreement has been seen amongst researchers. However, when it comes to cases with high the Oh number, i.e.

Characterization of secondary droplets during thermal atomization regime

Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 2018
Abstract When a single drop impacts onto a very hot substrate with a high impact velocity the collision leads to a generation of a fast vertical spray of fine secondary droplets. These small drops are generated during disintegration of a thin drop lamella by a vapor, formed by the liquid vaporization.
