Diatomic versus atomic secondary ion emission
Applied Physics Letters, 1975The yield ratio of diatomic versus atomic secondary ion emission from metals and semiconductors has been studied using two different mass spectrometers. Under ultrahigh vaccum conditions and with argon primary ions, yield ratios in excess of unity were observed for a variety of elements at secondary ion energies below about 10 eV.

Secondary atomization in the combustion of electrostatic sprays
29th Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit, 1993The combustion of electrosprays in a laminar counterflow diffusion flame has been experimentally studied by measuring droplet size and velocity distributions and gas-phase temperature. Detailed examination of the evolution of droplet size distribution as droplets approach the flame shows that, if substantial evaporation occurs before droplets 'interact'

Image simulation for atomic resolution secondary electron image
Ultramicroscopy, 2012It has been demonstrated recently that an atomic resolution secondary electron (SE) image can be achieved with a scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) equipped with a probe-aberration corrector. Its high sensitivity to the surface structure provides a powerful tool to simultaneously study both surface and bulk structure in the STEM, in the ...

Formation of atomic secondary ions in sputtering
Applied Surface Science, 2008Abstract Although being investigated for decades, the formation of atomic secondary ions in sputtering is still not completely understood. By briefly summarizing the available information on velocity and work function dependences of measured ionization probabilities, we show that the formation of practically all analytically useful ions is governed ...

Lessons from the Atomic Bomb About Secondary MDS
Current Hematologic Malignancy Reports, 2014Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDSs) is a hematological neoplasm defined by ineffective hematopoiesis, dysplasia of hematopoietic cells, and risk of progression to acute leukemia. MDS occurs as de novo or secondary, and chemoradiotherapy for cancers is thought to increase the risk of MDS among patients.

Carbon Slurry Secondary Atomization.
1986Abstract : Various agents that might be incorporated with the carbon and/or with the JP-10 phase of the slurry for their ability to cause micro-explosions in slurry droplets on heating (and to develop a method to observe and evaluate the behavior using laser radiation as the energy source for explosion initiation) were screened.

Secondary threshold laws for multiple ionization of atoms
Physical Review A, 2004We propose a physical mechanism that leads to the emergence of secondary threshold laws in processes of multiple ionization of atoms. We argue that the removal of n electrons (n>2) from a many-electron atom may proceed via intermediate resonant states of the corresponding doubly charged ion.

Internal metallation of tertiary and secondary carbon atoms
Journal of the Chemical Society, Chemical Communications, 1972The first example of a compound containing a tertiary carbon atom bonded to a transition metal has been prepared by platination of PBu2t(o-PriPh): some metallations of the secondary carbon atom of an ortho-ethylphenyl group, are also described.
