Interleukin 1 Signaling Is Regulated by Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF) and Is Aberrant in Lif−/− Mouse Uterus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This study addresses the regulation of the interleukin 1 (IL1) system in the murine uterine luminal epithelium (LE) and stroma by leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF). Using RT-PCR we compared expression of Il1a, Il1b, Il1rn, Il1r1, and Il1r2 during the pre-

α-Toxin permeabilized rat pheochromocytoma cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The channel forming α-toxin of Staphylococcus aureus (about 50 μg/ml) markedly reduces the Ca2+ requirement for dopamine release by the rat pheochromocytoma cell line (PC 12).

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Glucocorticoids rapidly inhibit oxytocin-stimulated adrenocorticotropin release from rat anterior pituitary cells, without modifying intracellular calcium transients [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Glucocorticoid hormones suppress the secretion of ACTH evoked by secretagogues such as CRF and arginine vasopressin. In this study, we investigated the effects of glucocorticoids on ACTH release induced by oxytocin (OT) and on intracellular free calcium ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Tau Secretion: Good and Bad for Neurons

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2019
In Alzheimer’s disease (AD), neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), lesions composed of hyperphosphorylated and aggregated tau, spread from the transentorhinal cortex to the hippocampal formation and neocortex.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Multiple Mechanisms Driving F-actin-Dependent Transport of Organelles to and From Secretory Sites in Bovine Chromaffin Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2018
Neuroendocrine chromaffin cells represent an excellent model to study the molecular mechanisms associated with the exo-endocytotic cycle of neurotransmitter release.
