Early metastasis is characterized by Gr1+ cell dysregulation and is inhibited by immunomodulatory nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.

AssetHarvester: A Static Analysis Tool for Detecting Secret-Asset Pairs in Software Artifacts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
GitGuardian monitored secrets exposure in public GitHub repositories and reported that developers leaked over 12 million secrets (database and other credentials) in 2023, indicating a 113% surge from 2021. Despite the availability of secret detection tools, developers ignore the tools' reported warnings because of false positives (25%-99%).

An Information Theoretic Approach to Secret Sharing [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
A novel information theoretic approach is proposed to solve the secret sharing problem, in which a dealer distributes one or multiple secrets among a set of participants that for each secret only qualified sets of users can recover it by pooling their shares together while non-qualified sets of users obtain no information about the secret even if they ...

Distinct ontogenic patterns of overt and latent DGAT activities of rat liver microsomes

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2002
We have studied the ontogeny of the two functional diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT) activities (overt and latent) during postnatal development in rat liver. We find that the ontogenic patterns of the two are highly distinct.

Understanding and measuring mechanical signals in the tumor stroma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review discusses cancer‐associated fibroblast subtypes and their functions, particularly in relation to extracellular matrix production, as well as the development of 3D models to study tumor stroma mechanics in vitro. Several quantitative techniques to measure tissue mechanical properties are also described, to emphasize the diagnostic and ...

A Swan's Secret. [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1892
Now that the breeding-season for birds is coming near, it would be interesting to note if the following sight I saw last spring is common to swans. A pair of swans built on an island on the River Wey, which runs through our grounds, and I stood on the bank opposite their nest, and watched for a view of the cygnets, which were just hatched out. The male

CD44v, S1PR1, HER3, MET and cancer‐associated amino acid transporters are promising targets for the pancreatic cancers characterized using mAb

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Novel mAbs could detect cancer‐associated membrane proteins on various type of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC) by flow cytometry with viable PDAC cells and by immunohistochemistry with PDAC tissues. Results of protein expression were substantiated by mRNA expression by The Cancer Genome Atlas.

MDS Ideal Secret Sharing Scheme from AG-codes on Elliptic Curves [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
For a secret sharing scheme, two parameters $d_{min}$ and $d_{cheat}$ are defined in [12] and [13]. These two parameters measure the error-correcting capability and the secret-recovering capability of the secret sharing scheme against cheaters. Some general properties of the parameters have been studied in [12,[9] and [13].
