Pleasure, Guilt and Secretory Immunoglobulin A
Psychological Reports, 1999Before producing saliva samples for Immunoglobulin A assay. 30 subjects listed their pleasurable activities and rated them in terms of pleasure and guilt. Levels of Immunoglobulin A were higher in those subjects with high ratios of pleasure-guilt scores.

Poetry Writing and Secretory Immunoglobulin A
Psychological Reports, 200317 healthy students provided saliva samples for Immunoglobulin A (s-IgA) assay before and after sessions of either writing poetry or reading magazines (control). Levels of s-IgA increased after the poetry-writing sessions but not after reading.

Academic Stress and Secretory Immunoglobulin A
Psychological Reports, 2000Immediately before and after giving an oral presentation and taking examinations 10 final-year students provided saliva samples for immunoglobulin A assay. Compared with ‘baseline’, levels of immunoglobulin A were lower surrounding the examination conditions and before the presentation.

Psychosocial Factors and Secretory Immunoglobulin A
Critical Reviews in Oral Biology & Medicine, 1997This review focuses on studies that have examined the relation between psychosocial factors and secretory immunoglobulin A (s-IgA). Several studies have examined the relation between s-IgA and stressful circumstances ranging from major life events to minor daily events.

Secretory immunoglobulin A and immunoglobulin G in horse saliva
Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 2016This study aimed to increase the knowledge on salivary antibodies in the horse since these constitute an important part of the immune defence of the oral cavity. For that purpose assays to detect horse immunoglobulin A (IgA) including secretory IgA (SIgA) were set up and the molecular weights of different components of the horse IgA system were ...

Urinary secretory immunoglobulin A and free secretory component in pyelonephritis
American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 1995The immune defense mechanisms of mucosal surfaces involve secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA) antibodies and, to a lesser degree, other specific and nonspecific immune factors. These antibodies are dependent on a secretory component (SC) for their transmission through the epithelium. This SC is also secreted without Ig as free SC (FSC).

Cervical secretory immunoglobulin A in adolescent girls
Journal of Adolescent Health, 1999To determine whether there are differences in levels of cervical secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA) between adolescent girls in the secretory and proliferative phases of their menstrual cycle.Sexually active adolescent girls (n = 117) at health maintenance organization (HMO) based adolescent medical clinic were recruited into the study.

Basketball exercise and secretory immunoglobulin A
European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology, 1991This study examined saliva levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA) before and after three games and three practice sessions during the basketball season. Saliva was collected from 27 prepubescent boys (10-12 years) in a small Fry league and 23 postpubescent boys (16-18 years) on a high school varsity team.

Unfolding of human secretory immunoglobulin A
Molecular Immunology, 1970Abstract The quaternary structure of human secretory immunoglobulin A is stabilized by noncovalent forces to a degree that certain antigenic determinants of the secretory piece subunit are inaccessible. The strength of these noncovalent interactions depends on the presence of disulfide bonds linking the secretory piece to the immunoglobulin A ...
