Quantification of sediment transport through direct measurements and the use of empirical models in an experimental catchment in the Andes Mountains, Southern Chile.

open access: yesRevista Técnica de la Facultad de Ingeniería, 2010
The quantification of sediment transport is very important in engineering studies and in the design of dams and bridges, but at the same time is one of the most difficult tasks to undertake.

Characteristic Analysis of Annual Sediment Transport Modulus of Xijiang River Basin in Guangxi over Last 60 Years

open access: yesRenmin Zhujiang, 2022
Mann-Kendall rank correlation test,Spearman rank correlation test and Mann-Whitney-Pettitt abrupt change point analysis were performed to study the trend and mutation components of the annual sediment transport modulus of the Xijiang River Basin. Then, the

Influence of chemical denudation on hillslope morphology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
[1] Models of hillslope evolution involving diffusion-like sediment transport are conventionally presented as an equation in which the changes in land-surface elevation or soil thickness are balanced by the divergence of soil transport and tectonic ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Evaluating the Performance of Different Rainfall and Runoff Erosivity Factors—A Case Study of the Fu River Basin

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The sediment yield resulting from storm erosion has become a focal point of research and a significant area of interest in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River amid changing environmental conditions. The issue of numerous types of erosivity factors (R)

Evaluation of the utility of sediment data in NASQAN (National Stream Quality Accounting Network) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Monthly suspended sediment discharge measurements, made by the USGS as part of the National Stream Quality Accounting Network (NASQAN), are analysed to assess the adequacy in terms of spatial coverage, temporal sampling frequency, accuracy of ...

Determining the Onset of Hydrodynamic Erosion in Turbulent Flow

open access: yes, 2017
We revisit the longstanding question of the onset of sediment transport driven by a turbulent fluid flow via laboratory measurements. We use particle tracking velocimetry to quantify the fluid flow as well as the motion of individual grains.

Extreme flood-driven fluvial bank erosion and sediment loads: direct process measurements using integrated Mobile Laser Scanning (MLS) and hydro-acoustic techniques: Direct measurement of flood-driven erosion using MLS and MBES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. This methods paper details the first attempt at monitoring bank erosion, flow and suspended sediment at a site during flooding on the Mekong River induced by the passage of tropical cyclones.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Development of a distributed hydrological model combined with sediment transport calculations and its application to a medium-scale basin in northeast China

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Communications
An accurate assessment of sediment transport can assist land and resource managers in any region. The primary objective of this study was to develop a distributed hydrological model for calculating rainfall-runoff coupled with sediment transport to ...
