Acoustic measurements of boundary layer flux profiles over a sandy rippled bed under regular waves [PDF]
The study of boundary layer sediment transport processes requires contemporaneous measurements of the bedforms, the flow and the sediment movement. Obtaining these three parameters, at the required temporal-spatial resolutions, has been traditionally ...

An accurate assessment of sediment transport can assist land and resource managers in any region. The primary objective of this study was to develop a distributed hydrological model for calculating rainfall-runoff coupled with sediment transport to ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Dynamic Characteristics of Suspended Load and Bed Load Transport in Meltwater Runoff of Qiyi Glacier
[Objective] The transportation of sediment via glacial meltwater can not only reflect the glacial erosion and landform evolution, but also is one of the important sediment sources for the downstream river.

Sediment transport capacity response to variations in water discharge in pressurized subglacial channels [PDF]
Sediment transport capacity in both subaerial and subglacial channels depends on the shear stress exerted across the channel bottom, which varies with water velocity and channel width.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Challenges in transferring knowledge between scales in coastal sediment dynamics
‘Packaging’ coastal sediment transport into discrete temporal and spatial scale bands is necessary for measurement programs, modelling, and design. However, determining how to best measure and parameterize information, to transfer between scales, is not ...

Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.

A NUMERICAL MODEL FOR SEDIMENT TRANSPORT
We introduce here a numerical two dimensional model for sediment transport which permits to compute the impact of a coastal structure on the bottom evolution. The introduction of current disturbance and some assumptions using difference of time scale between current and bottom evolutions permits to obtain a propagation equation driving the bottom ...
