This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Surface Erosion and Sedimentation Associated with Forest Land Use in Interior Alaska [PDF]
Completion reportThe magnitude of sheet-rill erosion associated with various landscape manipulations is presented. The Universal Soil Loss Equation's usefulness for predicting annual sheet-rill erosion within interior Alaska is confirmed ...

This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Hydrology, river regimes and sediment yield [PDF]
In comparison to the rest of Europe, Africa, and Asia, most rivers arising and flowing within the Mediterranean watershed typically drain small catchments with mountainous headwaters. The hydrology of Mediterranean catchments is strongly influenced by the seasonal distribution of precipitation, catchment geology, vegetation type and extent, and the ...

The sediment yield of the Yellow River Basin has obviously decreased since the 1980s, and the impacts of precipitation on sediment yield changes have become increasingly important with the global climate change.

Abundant rainfall areas promote sediment yield at both sub-watershed and watershed scale due to soil erosion and increase siltation of river channel, but it can be curtailed through planned urbanization.

Estimation of magnitudes of debris flows in selected torrential watersheds in Slovenia [PDF]
In this paper the application of different methods for estimation of magnitudes of rainfall-induced debris flows in 18 torrents in the Upper Sava River valley, NW Slovenia, and in 2 torrents in Pohorje, N Slovenia is described. Additional verification of

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Gravel galore: Impacts of clear-cut logging on salmon and their habitats [PDF]
Timber harvest may have both direct and indirect effects on salmon, and with a few exceptions those effects result in lowered survival of salmon in their stream habitats compared with unlogged forest (Hicks et al. 1991b).

Beyond peak reservoir storage? A global estimate of declining water storage capacity in large reservoirs [PDF]
Water storage is an important way to cope with temporal variation in water supply and demand. The storage capacity and the lifetime of water storage reservoirs can be significantly reduced by the inflow of sediments.
