Expression of VINV1, SCB1 and SCS1 genes in the seed coats of contrasting soybean seeds1

open access: yesRevista Ciência Agronômica
The seed coat is vital for the proper development of soybean seeds and also, after their physiological maturity, for providing protection against various biotic and abiotic factors.

Seed morphology and seed coat structure in Mediterranean plants: implication for evolution, taxonomy and germinative performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A better understanding of morphological, ultra-structural and anatomical seed coat characteristics can contribute to explain and predict seed performance under certain environmental conditions and select the most suitable treatments promoting seed ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Fine-mapping and primary analysis of candidate genes associated with seed coat color in mung bean (Vigna radiata L.)

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture
Seed coat color affects the appearance and commodity quality of mung beans (Vigna radiata L.). The substances that affect mung bean seed coat color are mainly flavonoids, which have important medicinal value.

Seed coat fragments, a major source of cotton yarn imperfections [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
A method to differentiate cultivars depending on their SCFcontents on yarn was developped in CIRAD CA using a GGP Uster Eveness Tester. Results indicate a high SCF heritability, but fabrication of yam is too costly to be used for breeding programs.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Digestibilidad de las proteinas de frijol factores reguladores [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The low digestibility of grain legumes, particularly beans, is highlighted and its regulating factors (tannins, seed coat fiber, protease inhibitors, protein structure of the protein to digest, interactions between proteins and other cotyledon nutrients,

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Seed treatments: phytotoxicity amelioration and tracer uptake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Seed treatments are used globally on a wide range of field, vegetable and ornamental seeds, for efficient early season control of insects and diseases. However, specific seed-treatment compounds may be phytotoxic and this phytotoxicity is most acute in ...

Development of Seeding Machine for Welsh Onion Seeds without Seed Coat

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Farm Work Research, 2004
We developed a seeding machine for PaperpotTM system in which approximately 10 seeds of Welsh onion seeds without seed coat are sown in 1 hole. We examined the cell of a cell roll structure, the rotary brush and the cell roller cover, and made a prototype using the frame of a seeding machine as a basis.1) We investigated the seeding accuracy of 14 ...
