Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Analysis of preharvest sprouting in three Brazilian wheat populations. [PDF]
The objective of this work was to evaluate the possibility of obtaining recombinant inbred wheat lines more resistant to preharvest sprouting, independently of colour genes, in three red-grained Brazilian wheat populations. The results showed statistical

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Effects of seed coat colour on seed characteristics of honeylocust (Gleditsia triacanthos)
Honeylocust (Gleditsia triacanthos) seeds have hard seed coats of different colours that affect duration of dormancy. This study investigated the effects of seed coat colour on water uptake, germination, and quantity of seed parts. The results show that seed coat colour had a significant effect on seed moisture content, seed coat weight, endosperm ...

Viability Prediction of Ricinus cummunis L. Seeds Using Multispectral Imaging
The purpose of this study was to highlight the use of multispectral imaging in seed quality testing of castor seeds. Visually, 120 seeds were divided into three classes: yellow, grey and black seeds. Thereafter, images at 19 different wavelengths ranging

Seed coat colour development in black beans [PDF]
Non-Peer ReviewedDry beans come in a wide variety of seed coat patterns and colours and the quality and value of the bean crop is largely determined by appearance and condition of the seed, particularly colour uniformity and stability. In western Canada,

Crossability and inheritance of seed coat colour in cowpea at F1 generation
A study on crossability and inheritance of seed coat colour in cowpea was conducted between October, 2017 and August, 2018. Two accessions of cowpea: IT98K-205-8 (white seeded) and IT98K-555-1 (brown seeded) were used for the study. Plants were raised in plastic pots in the screen house, and as flowers mature, crosses were performed manually, early in ...

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.
