Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Breeding for components of earliness and seed yield in sesame

open access: yesPlant Gene and Trait, 2016
Sesame is an important oil crop not only in India but worldwide. Understanding of nature of inheritance of sesame plant characteristics is essential for planning of effective breeding strategies. Eight diverse genotypes of sesame were employed in a half-diallel mating to study combining abilities and assess potentials for earliness and seed yield ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Analysis of seed yield components in oilseed Brassicas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Gajene vrste iz porodice Brassicaceae imaju veliki ekonomski značaj. U istraživanja su uključene dve sorte ozime uljane repice i dve sorte jare uljane repice (Brassica napus L.), dve sorte stočnog kelja (Brassica oleracea var. viridis) i dve sorte bele slačice (Sinapis alba L. subsp. alba syn. Brassica hirta). Ogled je postavljen u jesenjem i prolećnom

Genetic determinism of seed yield components in lucerne

open access: yes, 2023
Seed production is a major component of the commercial development of a variety but breeding for seed yield is expensive. A set of 400 cultivated lucerne accessions were phenotyped for seed yield traits in two locations and genotyped with GBS markers. A large diversity was found among accessions but the heritability of the traits was moderate. QTL were

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic
