Optimal strategy selection method for moving target defense based on signaling game

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2019
To solve the problem of the optimal strategy selection for moving target defense, the defense strategy was defined formally, the defense principle from the perspective of attack surface shifting and exploration surface enlarging was taken into account. Then,

Near surface swimming of Salmonella Typhimurium explains target-site selection and cooperative invasion.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2012
Targeting of permissive entry sites is crucial for bacterial infection. The targeting mechanisms are incompletely understood. We have analyzed target-site selection by S. Typhimurium. This enteropathogenic bacterium employs adhesins (e.g.

Mars Lander/Rover vehicle development: An advanced space design project for USRA and NASA/OAST [PDF]

open access: yes
A design is proposed for a Mars Lander/Rover (MLR) for use in gathering needed environmental and surface information. The design focus will be upon a Mars Lander/Rover that will leave an orbit around Mars, reenter and soft land on the Martian surface ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Balancing the extremes for antibody developability: hydrophobic and electrostatic germline framework signatures for CDR-loop compensation

open access: yesmAbs
Antibody therapeutics are a rapidly growing class of biopharmaceuticals, but concerns regarding potential developability issues persist. While complementarity-determining region (CDR) loops are imperative for antigen specificity and mutations are ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

The cloning, characterisation and engineering of an IGF-I-BINDING single chain Fv [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This thesis describes the construction and characterisation of an insulin-like growth factor (IGF-I)-binding single chain Fv (scFv) and the utilisation of this scFv as a model protein for the study of the application of DNA shuffling and ribosome display
