Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

YeeD is an essential partner for YeeE-mediated thiosulfate uptake in bacteria and regulates thiosulfate ion decomposition.

open access: yesPLoS Biology
Uptake of thiosulfate ions as an inorganic sulfur source from the environment is important for bacterial sulfur assimilation. Recently, a selective thiosulfate uptake pathway involving a membrane protein YeeE (TsuA) in Escherichia coli was characterized.

Measurement of copper uptake in Saccharomyces cerevisiae using a Cu2+-selective electrode

open access: yes, 1987
The uptake of copper by Saccharomyces cerevisiae was studied using a Cu2+-selective electrode and was found to be biphasic. The initial rapid metabolism-independent binding of Cu2+ to cell surfaces was followed by metabolism-dependent intracellular ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

[Selective serotonin uptake inhibitors and pancreatitis].

open access: yesTidsskrift for den Norske laegeforening : tidsskrift for praktisk medicin, ny raekke, 2001
About 2% of all cases of pancreatitis are drug-induced. Several drugs cause pancreatitis, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).Two Norwegian adverse drug event reports and a review of the international WHO adverse drug reactions database form the basis for this discussion.

Selective cation uptake by some forage crops

open access: yes, 1970
The study was carried out in the greenhouse to determine the cation accumulation and their cycling potential by four selected forage crops (alta fescue, sudangrass, berseem clover and sesbania) grown without soil amendment on four contrasting soil types (

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Emerging insights into CC and CXC chemokines and their receptors in Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dual roles of CC and CXC chemokines in distinguishing active, latent, and subclinical tuberculosis were reviewed, along with an evaluation of their potential as diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets to advance precision medicine in tuberculosis management. The graphical abstract was generated with AI assistance (Gemini 3.0).

Preparation and Preclinical Evaluation of 18F-Labeled Olutasidenib Derivatives for Non-Invasive Detection of Mutated Isocitrate Dehydrogenase 1 (mIDH1)

open access: yesMolecules
Mutations of isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) are key biomarkers for glioma classification, but current methods for detection of mutated IDH1 (mIDH1) require invasive tissue sampling and cannot be used for longitudinal studies.

What is the difference between dependence and withdrawal reactions? A comparison of benzodiazepines and selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors

open access: yes, 2012
To explore the rationale for claiming that benzodiazepines cause dependence while selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) do ...
