Exploring the Influence of Applied Potential and Catalyst Morphology on the Selectivities of Copper Toward Carbon Dioxide Electroreduction Using Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems
Electrochemical CO2 reduction (CO2RR) presents a sustainable approach to converting greenhouse gases into valuable chemicals. However, achieving precise product selectivity remains challenging.

Towards Enhanced Gas Sensor Performance with Fluoropolymer Membranes

open access: yesSensors, 2016
In this paper we report on how to increase the selectivity of gas sensors by using fluoropolymer membranes. The mass transport of polar and non-polar gases through a polymer membrane matrix was studied by systematic selection of polymers with different ...

Dynamic reorganization of the middle fusiform gyrus: long-term bird expertise predicts decreased face selectivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
What is the functional relationship between face-selective and expertise-predicated object-selective regions in the human middle fusiform gyrus? In two separate fMRI experiments, superior behaviorally-measured bird expertise predicts both higher middle ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Glyphosate e associações em pós-emergência no desempenho agronômico e na qualidade das sementes de soja RR® Effect of glyphosate and associations in post-emergence on the agronomic performance and quality of RR® soybean seeds

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 2012
O presente trabalho objetivou avaliar os componentes de produção e a qualidade das sementes de soja RR® em função da aplicação, em pós-emergência, de glyphosate isolado e em mistura em tanque.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Modelling the effects of more selective trawl nets on the productivity of European hake (Merluccius merluccius) and deep-water rose shrimp (Parapenaeus longirostris) stocks in the Strait of Sicily

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2018
Single-species Gadget models were used to assess the effects of using a sorting grid mounted on the traditional trawl net used by Sicilian trawlers to exploit the deep-water rose shrimp in the Strait of Sicily.

SELECTION DIFFERENTIALS AND SELECTION COEFFICIENTS [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics, 1978
ABSTRACT Proof is offered that s ≃ ig for all forms of selection where fitness is a nondecreasing function of a normally distributed phenotype (called fitness potential); s is selection coefficient, i is standard selection differential, and g is standard differential effect of a locus genotype.
