Performance of a Semi-Active Damper for Heavy Vehicles

Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 1998
This paper describes the development, modeling, and testing of a prototype, continuously variable semi-active damper for heavy vehicles. A simple proportional valve is used to generate the variable damping coefficient and the detrimental effects of the oil flow forces acting on the valve spool are studied.

Neuro-Fuzzy Control for Semi-active Dampers

2014
In many engineering applications, vibrations are a very typical type of disturbances. Due to this, different technologies have been developed in order to reduce (or ultimately eliminate) the potential negative impact they may incur on mechanical systems.

Semi active tunable mass damper for helicopters

SPIE Proceedings, 2017
Helicopters are among the most complex machines ever made. While ensuring high performance from the aeronautical point of view, they are not very comfortable due to vibration mainly created by the main rotor. Traditionally this problem is solved by mounting several TMD inside the helicopter, each tuned to the frequency of the disturbance the main ...

Modelling and control of semi-active dampers

2023

Experimental Evaluation of a Semi-Active Friction Damper

Elasto-Impact and Friction in Dynamic Systems, 1996
Abstract Semi-active control of friction dampers has been proposed to improve the energy dissipation characteristics of passive friction dampers and to broaden the areas of application in which they can successfully be used. In this paper, we implement a control law which maximizes energy dissipation in an instantaneous sense by ...

Analysis of a semi-active MR-damper with hysteretic and asymmetric properties

Proceedings of the 2003 American Control Conference, 2003., 2004
A generalized model is proposed to characterize the hysteretic damping properties of a magneto-rheological (MR) fluid damper, which yield asymmetric force in compression and rebound. The proposed nonlinear damper model incorporating applied current, and magnitude and frequency of the response, is employed within a two-DOF "quarter-car" model to ...

Control of Structure with Semi-active Friction Damper by Intelligent Algorithm

2006 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2006
Based on the fuzzy logic of the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) model and the bang-bang control law, a fuzzy sub-optimal bang-bang control method is presented in this paper. Genetic algorithm is used to determine the optimal control force in the T-S model. The relative performance index is utilized as the objective function. A building structure with a semi-active
