Semi-analytical solutions describing microwave heating and thawing
Semi-analytical solutions for one-dimensional models of microwave thawing and one and two-dimensional models of microwave reactors are presented. Each of the models includes, as part of the governing equations, a forced heat equation and a steady-state ...

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

A Semi-Analytical Method for the Solution of Helmholtz Equation
This note is concerned with a semi-analytical method for the solution of 2-D Helmholtz equation in unit square. The method uses orthogonal functions to project the problem down to finite dimensional space. After the projection, the problem simplifies to that of obtaining solutions for second order constant coefficient differential equations which ...

Semi-analytical solutions for autocatalytic reaction-diffusion equations
In this thesis autocatalytic reactions in a diffusion cell are considered. Cubic autocatalytic reactions have proved a useful test-bed for examining static and dynamic stability of chemical systems.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Hydrostatic pressure activates HIF‐1α via β‐catenin to promote stemness in breast cancer cells
To mimic the elevated intestinal fluid pressure in breast cancers, we loaded human breast cancer cells (MCF‐7, MDA‐MB‐453, and BT‐474) to 50 mmHg hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure exposure upregulated HIF‐1α and induced stemness in MCF‐7 and BT‐474 cells.

Pressure-based Semi-analytical Solution of Radial Stokes Flows
The authors study the radial Stokes flow with recirculation zones between two parallel disks. To obtain a proper representation for the pressure, they combine traditional eigenfunction expansions with a functional analytic approach implemented first in the symbolic software Mathematica and then numerically.

Semi-analytical solutions for a cubic autocatalytic reaction, with linear decay and a precursor chemical, are considered. The model is coupled with diffusion and considered in a one-dimensional reactor.
