High Power Semiconductor Disk Lasers
2005 Pacific Rim Conference on Lasers & Electro-Optics, 2005We present high-power emission from semiconductor disk lasers. By intra-cavity frequency-doubling of multi-Watt infra-red emission, more than 0.6 W of blue and green have been generated. 200 mW have been achieved directly for red emitters.

290-fs pulses from a semiconductor disk laser
Transform-limited pulses as short as 290 fs at 1036 nm are generated by a diode-pumped semiconductor disk laser. The all-semiconductor laser employs a graded-gap-barrier design in the gain section. A fast saturable absorber mirror serves as a passive mode-locker. No further elements for internal or external dispersion control are required.

Ultrafast Semiconductor Disk Lasers
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2017The performance of ultrafast semiconductor disk lasers rapidly advanced over the last decades. The strong interest from industry for inexpensive, compact and reliable ultrafast laser sources in the picosecond and femtosecond domain has driven this technology towards commercial products.

Array-Format Microchip Semiconductor Disk Lasers
IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 2008We report a detailed study of an array-format 1.055- mum microchip semiconductor disk laser which uses a microlens-patterned diamond both as an array of stabilizing output coupling mirrors and a heatspreader. A thermal study of the devices, using a finite element analysis, is carried out and confirms the thermal management capabilities and power ...

CW Cr2+:CdSe laser pumped by semiconductor disk laser
Bulletin of the Lebedev Physics Institute, 2012An output power of 0.85 W with a differential efficiency with respect to absorbed pump power of 55.4% is achieved for a Cr2+:CdSe laser with a wavelength of 2.6 µm under optical pumping with a semiconductor disk laser with a wavelength of 1.98 µm.

Mode-locked semiconductor disk lasers
Advances in optics and photonics, 2016This paper will review the recent advances in the field of ultrashort pulse generation from optically pumped vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting lasers (OP-VECSELs). In this review, we will summarize the most significant results presented over the last 15 years, before highlighting recent breakthroughs related to mode-locked VECSELs by different ...

Quantum dot semiconductor disk laser at 13 μm
Optics Letters, 2015We present a semiconductor disk laser (SDL) emitting at the wavelength of 1.3 μm. The active region of the SDL comprises InAs quantum dots (QDs) that are embedded into InGaAs quantum wells (QWs). An output power over 200 mW is obtained at 15°C, which represents the highest output power reported from QD-based SDLs in this wavelength range.

Quantum-dot semiconductor disk lasers
Journal of Crystal Growth, 2008Abstract We demonstrate quantum-dot (QD)-based, optically pumped semiconductor disk lasers (SDLs) for wavelengths ranging from 950 to 1210 nm. QDs grown either in the submonolayer (SML) or in the Stranski–Krastanow (SK) regime are employed as active layers of the SDLs which are based on two different design concepts.

Diode-pumped semiconductor disk laser
2002 Conference on Optoelectronic and Microelectronic Materials and Devices. COMMAD 2002. Proceedings (Cat. No.02EX601), 2005Diode-pumped semiconductor disk lasers are based on the principle of diode-pumped solid-state disk lasers. This relatively new type of laser is also referred to as VECSEL (vertical external cavity surface emitting laser). Semiconductor disk lasers show excellent beam characteristics in combination with high output power.
