High Power Semiconductor Disk Lasers

2006 IEEE LEOS Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2006
Results on high-power optically pumped semiconductor disk lasers are reviewed. Multi-Watt emission with differential efficiencies larger than 40% and power-densities up to 15 kW/cm2 is demonstrated in the near-infrared wavelength range of 920-1050nm.

DBR-free semiconductor disk lasers

CLEO: 2015, 2015
We demonstrate a novel DBR-free semiconductor disk laser, where multiple quantum well active region is fusion bonded directly onto a diamond heat spreader. CW output powers of 2.5 W have been demonstrated at 1150 nm.

High‐brightness long‐wavelength semiconductor disk lasers

Laser & Photonics Reviews, 2008
AbstractA review on the recent developments in the field of long‐wavelength (λ >1.2μm) high‐brightness optically‐pumped semiconductor disk lasers (OPSDLs) is presented. As thermal effects have such a crucial impact on the laser performance particular emphasis is given to modelling the thermal behaviour and optimisation of the heat‐sinking.

Visible and ultraviolet semiconductor disk lasers

CLEO/Europe - EQEC 2009 - European Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and the European Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009
Semiconductor disk lasers (SDLs), also known by the alternative name of vertical external cavity surface emitting lasers (VECSELs), have become established in recent years as an attractive new variant in continuous-wave (CW) or quasi-CW “solid state” laser technology [1–3].

Pulsed pumping of a 2.3μm InGaAsSb Semiconductor Disk Laser

2007 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO), 2007
~1.7 W output power at 2.3 mum is demonstrated from a semiconductor disk laser pumped by a 905 nm high-power pulsed semiconductor laser. The thermal characteristics and wavelength shift are studied over the 100-200 ns pump pulse.

High-power quantum dot semiconductor disk lasers

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
The latest achievements of quantum dot based semiconductor disk lasers are reviewed. Several lasers operating at 1040 nm - 1260 nm were studied. All the structures were grown with molecular beam epitaxy on GaAs substrates. The number of quantum dot layers was varied and the gain was provided either by the ground or the excited state transition of ...

Semiconductor components for femtosecond semiconductor disk lasers grown by MOVPE

Journal of Crystal Growth, 2008
Abstract Diode-pumped semiconductor disk lasers (SCDLs), also known as optically-pumped semiconductor vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting lasers (OPS-VECSELs), are promising light sources for achieving high output power in combination with nearly diffraction-limited beam quality as well as for generating short pulses at very high repetition ...

High-power quantum dot based semiconductor disk laser

CLEO/Europe - EQEC 2009 - European Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and the European Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009
We demonstrate multiwatt cw output power from an optically pumped quantum-dot semiconductor disk laser. Continuous-wave output power of 4.35 W with 22% slope efficiency was demonstrated at a center wavelength of 1,032 nm. This represents an increase in power of 15 times and an increase in slope efficiency of 10 times from the previously published ...
