Validity test of the IPD-Work consortium approach for creating comparable job strain groups between Job Content Questionnaire and Demand-Control Questionnaire

open access: yesInternational Journal of Occupational Medicine and Environmental Health, 2015
Objectives: This study aims to test the validity of the IPD-Work Consortium approach for creating comparable job strain groups between the Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ) and the Demand-Control Questionnaire (DCQ).

Redox‐dependent binding and conformational equilibria govern the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this work, we reveal how different enzyme binding configurations influence the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in live cells using time‐resolved anisotropy imaging and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). Mathematical modelling shows that the redox states of the NAD and NADP pools govern these configurations, shaping their fluorescence ...

Development of visible light‐sensitive human neuropsin (OPN5) via single amino acid substitution

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The present study determines a key amino acid residue, Lys91, for defining UV sensitivity of human OPN5. Heterologous action spectroscopy of the wild type and K91 mutants of OPN5 in HEK293T cells reveals that substitution of Lys91 with neutral (alanine) or acidic amino acids (glutamic or aspartic acids) causes substantial shifts in spectral sensitivity

Consumer price sensitivity in health insurance [PDF]

open access: yes
This CPB Discussion Paper presents new estimates for the price elasticity of the residual demand for health insurance. This elasticity measures the loss in market share of a health insurer as a consequence of a unilateral increase in price, assuming ...

Exploring lipid diversity and minimalism to define membrane requirements for synthetic cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Designing the lipid membrane of synthetic cells is a complex task, in which its various roles (among them solute transport, membrane protein support, and self‐replication) should all be integrated. In this review, we report the latest top‐down and bottom‐up advances and discuss compatibility and complexity issues of current engineering approaches ...

On pairwise sensitivity

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2005
The authors introduce a new concept of sensitivity with respect to initial conditions by means of tools of Ergodic Theory. They consider endomorphisms on a probabilistic Lebesgue space \((X,{\mathcal B}, \mu)\) (with a fixed metric \(d\) on \(X\)) and they assume that the support of \(\mu\) (in symbols, supp \(\mu\)) is not a singleton.

An Electrospun Preparation of the NC/GAP/Nano-LLM-105 Nanofiber and Its Properties

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2019
In this work, an energetic composite fiber, in which 2,6-diamino-3,5-dinitropyrazine-1-oxide (LLM-105) nanoparticles intimately incorporated with a nitrocellulose/glycidyl azide polymer (NC/GAP) fiber, was prepared by the electrospinning method.

ICAN sensitivity analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
A computer program called Integrated Composite Analyzer (ICAN) was used to predict the properties of high-temperature polymer matrix composites. ICAN is a collection of NASA Lewis Research Center-developed computer codes designed to carry out analysis of

The Intersection of Religiosity, Workplace Spirituality and Ethical Sensitivity in Practicing Accountants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A broad range of ethical decisions cross the desk of practicing accountants everyday. Rest and Narvaez (1994) theorized that ethical sensitivity is influenced by personal factors such as religion.

The nicotinamide hypothesis revisited—plant defense signaling integrating PARP, nicotinamide, nicotinic acid, epigenetics, and glutathione

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nicotinamide (NIC) and nicotinic acid (NIA) are proposed as stress signaling compounds in plants. Oxidative stress may lead to single strand breaks (SSB) in DNA, which activate poly(ADP‐ribose) polymerase (PARP). NIC and NIA are then formed from NAD. NIC and NIA can promote epigenetic changes leading to the expression of defense genes specific for the ...
