Nasopharyngeal Swabs Are More Sensitive Than Oropharyngeal Swabs for COVID-19 Diagnosis and Monitoring the SARS-CoV-2 Load

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2020
Objective: Detection of SARS-CoV-2 by oropharyngeal swabs (OPS) and nasopharyngeal swabs (NPS) is an essential method for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) management.

SWEEPFINDER2: Increased sensitivity, robustness, and flexibility

open access: yes, 2015
SweepFinder is a popular program that implements a powerful likelihood-based method for detecting recent positive selection, or selective sweeps. Here, we present SweepFinder2, an extension of SweepFinder with increased sensitivity and robustness to the ...

From omics to AI—mapping the pathogenic pathways in type 2 diabetes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Integrating multi‐omics data with AI‐based modelling (unsupervised and supervised machine learning) identify optimal patient clusters, informing AI‐driven accurate risk stratification. Digital twins simulate individual trajectories in real time, guiding precision medicine by matching patients to targeted therapies.

NMR Spectroscopy for Metabolomics Research

open access: yesMetabolites, 2019
Over the past two decades, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) has emerged as one of the three principal analytical techniques used in metabolomics (the other two being gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and liquid chromatography ...

Aβ42 promotes the aggregation of α‐synuclein splice isoforms via heterogeneous nucleation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aggregation of amyloid‐β (Aβ) and α‐synuclein (αSyn) is associated with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. This study reveals that Aβ aggregates serve as potent nucleation sites for the aggregation of αSyn and its splice isoforms, shedding light on the intricate interplay between these two pathogenic proteins.

Evaluation of ultrasound in detecting renal scar compared with DMSA in children from 2 to 10 years old in Sanandaj in 2020-2021 [PDF]

open access: yesمجله علمی دانشگاه علوم پزشکی کردستان
Background and Aim: Fibrosis and irreversible kidney damage that occur with inflammation are defined as renal parenchymal scar. Kidney scar occurs in children with pyelonephritis, and it is one of the major complications of urinary tract infection.

Twenty-four position tilt test for accelerometer cross-axial sensitivity compensation / Компенсация поперечной чувствительности МЭМС акселерометров с помощью тестирования статичного угла наклона, проведенного в 24-ех позициях / Kompenzacija poprečne osetljivosti MEMS akcelerometra metodom tilt-testa u 24 pozicije

open access: yesVojnotehnički Glasnik, 2017
Cross-axial or transverse sensitivity of an accelerometer can be compensated by digital processing of the output signal. To perform this, it is necessary to determine coefficients that describe a sensor’s response to excitation experimentally.

ERBIN limits epithelial cell plasticity via suppression of TGF‐β signaling

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In breast and lung cancer patients, low ERBIN expression correlates with poor clinical outcomes. Here, we show that ERBIN inhibits TGF‐β‐induced epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in NMuMG breast and A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. ERBIN suppresses TGF‐β/SMAD signaling and reduces TGF‐β‐induced ERK phosphorylation.
