KRAS and GNAS mutations in cell‐free DNA and in circulating epithelial cells in patients with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms—an observational pilot study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that KRAS and GNAS mutations are more prevalent in patients with resected intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) compared to those under clinical surveillance. GNAS mutations significantly differ between the two patient cohorts, indicating that their absence may serve as a potential biomarker to support conservative ...

Average-Case Averages: Private Algorithms for Smooth Sensitivity and Mean Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The simplest and most widely applied method for guaranteeing differential privacy is to add instance-independent noise to a statistic of interest that is scaled to its global sensitivity. However, global sensitivity is a worst-case notion that is often too conservative for realized dataset instances.

On‐treatment dynamics of circulating extracellular vesicles in the first‐line setting of patients with advanced non‐small cell lung cancer: the LEXOVE prospective study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LEXOVE prospective study evaluated plasma cell‐free extracellular vesicle (cfEV) dynamics using Bradford assay and dynamic light scattering in metastatic non‐small cell lung cancer patients undergoing first‐line treatments, correlating a ∆cfEV < 20% with improved median progression‐free survival in responders versus non‐responders.

Integrative transcriptomic analysis identifies emetine as a promising candidate for overcoming acquired resistance to ALK inhibitors in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We propose an efficient strategy to suppress ALK inhibitor (ALKi) resistance. By analyzing transcriptome data, we identified emetine as a potential inhibitor. We demonstrated that emetine exhibited effectiveness in inhibiting the growth of ALKi‐resistant cells, and further interpreted its impact on the resistant signatures through drug‐induced RNA ...

Mechanisms of Sensitivity and Specificity in Olfaction

open access: yesCold Spring Harbor Symposia on Quantitative Biology, 1992
The sensitivity and specificity of the mammalian olfactory system is the result of the contributions at the anatomical, cellular, and biochemical levels. The recent identification of a large gene family encoding putative olfactory receptors suggests that genetic diversity may play an important role in this system. Future challenges lie in understanding

Proper Estimation of Sensitivity and Specificity [PDF]

open access: yesClinical and Vaccine Immunology, 2006
I write to express concern about the diagnostic accuracy statements of Eda et. al. concerning a new Johne's disease enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) (2). The diagnostic sensitivity of this new ELISA for bovine paratuberculosis, reported to be 100%, was based on only 64 (according to the Materials and Methods) or 51 (according to the Results)

Validation, Robustness, and Accuracy of Perturbation-Based Sensitivity Analysis Methods for Time-Series Deep Learning Models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
This work undertakes studies to evaluate Interpretability Methods for Time-Series Deep Learning. Sensitivity analysis assesses how input changes affect the output, constituting a key component of interpretation. Among the post-hoc interpretation methods such as back-propagation, perturbation, and approximation, my work will investigate perturbation ...
