Amphetamine, but not methylphenidate, increases ethanol intake in adolescent male, but not in female, rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Introduction: There has been an increasing interest in analyzing the interactions between stimulants and ethanol during childhood and adolescence. Stimulants are used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in these developmental stages,

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Methylene Blue Photodegradation onto TiO2 Thin Films Sensitized with Curcumin: DFT and Experimental Study

open access: yesChemistry
Titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films sensitized with curcumin were fabricated to investigate the influence of sensitization on their spectroscopic, optical, and photocatalytic properties. TiO2 films were prepared using different curcumin concentrations and

Precipitation Behavior and Corrosion Properties of Stirred Zone in FSWed AA5083 Al-Mg Alloy after Sensitization

open access: yesMetals, 2023
This paper investigated the Mg-rich phase precipitation behavior and the corrosion performance throughout the thickness direction within the stirred zone (SZ) of friction stir welded (FSW) AA5083 alloy after 175 °C/100 h sensitization.

Sensitization patterns and minimum screening panels for aeroallergens in self-reported allergic rhinitis in China

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Optimization of skin prick test (SPT) panels, especially in view of significant differences in sensitizations patterns within different geographical areas, is an unmet need within China.

Domain-sensitivity

open access: yesSynthese, 2010
In this paper, I argue that there are good motivations for a relativist account of the domain-sensitivity of quantifier phrases. I will frame the problem as a puzzle involving what looks like a logically valid inference, yet one whose premises are true while the conclusion is false. After discussing some existing accounts, literalist and contextualist,

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Microglial TNFα suppresses cocaine-induced plasticity and behavioral sensitization

open access: yesNeuron, 2016
Summary Repeated administration of cocaine results in the development of behavioral sensitization, accompanied by a decrease in excitatory synaptic strength in the nucleus accumbens (NAc) through an unknown mechanism.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.
