Fault Diagnosis for Space-Borne Fiber-Optic Gyroscopes Using a Hybrid Method

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Timely detection and isolation of the failures in attitude sensor is a critical task to ensure the normal operation of the satellite. This article proposes a fault detection and isolation scheme for the four-axis fiber-optic gyroscopes using a hybrid ...

Optimised configuration of sensors for fault tolerant control of an electro-magnetic suspension system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
For any given system the number and location of sensors can affect the closed-loop performance as well as the reliability of the system. Hence, one problem in control system design is the selection of the sensors in some optimum sense that considers both

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

SENSOR FAULTS DIAGNOSIS IN AIRCRAFT LATERAL FLIGHT CONTROL USING MODEL BASED APPROACHES

open access: yesHavacılık ve Uzay Teknolojileri Dergisi, 2015
In this paper, sensor fault detection and isolation schemes are proposed. Fault detection and isolation techniques are used in fail safe control systems such as aerospace. In these systems, failures can cause to arise undesirable results.

Study on Fault Detection of Star-Sensor Based on UKF

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao, 2019
The fault detection of star sensor in satellite when no telemetry data from the gyroscope can be obtained is investigated. An algorithm based on the unscented Kalman filter (UKF) is proposed to indicate the occurrence of the fault.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Mobile sink based fault diagnosis scheme for wireless sensor networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Network diagnosis in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is a difficult task due to their improvisational nature, invisibility of internal running status, and particularly since the network structure can frequently change due to link failure.

Sensor Fault Detection and Isolation for Degrading Lithium-Ion Batteries in Electric Vehicles Using Parameter Estimation with Recursive Least Squares

open access: yesBatteries, 2019
With the increase in usage of electric vehicles (EVs), the demand for Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries is also on the rise. The battery management system (BMS) plays an important role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the battery in EVs ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
