New variables of separation for particular case of the Kowalevski top

open access: yes, 2010
We discuss the polynomial bi-Hamiltonian structures for the Kowalevski top in special case of zero square integral. An explicit procedure to find variables of separation and separation relations is considered in detail.Comment: 11 pages, LaTeX with Ams ...

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Separation of Variables and Contractions on Two-Dimensional Hyperboloid

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2012
In this paper analytic contractions have been established in the R→∞ contraction limit for exactly solvable basis functions of the Helmholtz equation on the two-dimensional two-sheeted hyperboloid. As a consequence we present some new asymptotic formulae.

Generalized Lenard Chains, Separation of Variables and Superintegrability

open access: yes, 2012
We show that the notion of generalized Lenard chains naturally allows formulation of the theory of multi-separable and superintegrable systems in the context of bi-Hamiltonian geometry.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Elastodynamics of radially inhomogeneous spherically anisotropic elastic materials in the Stroh formalism

open access: yes, 2011
A method is presented for solving elastodynamic problems in radially inhomogeneous elastic materials with spherical anisotropy, i.e.\ materials such that $c_{ijkl}= c_{ijkl}(r)$ in a spherical coordinate system ${r,\theta,\phi}$.

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Implementing parallel elliptic solver on a Beowulf cluster

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 1999
In a recent paper cite{zara} a parallel direct solver for the linear systems arising from elliptic partial differential equations has been proposed. The aim of this note is to present the initial evaluation of the performance characteristics of this ...

Some Counterexamples to Separation of Variables

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 1995
An algebraic PDE system admits separation of variables if it has at least one differentially algebraic (DA) solution. Here a function is DA if there is a field of finite transcendence degree over \(\mathbb{C}\) that contains this function and all its partial derivatives.
