Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Data-Aided Chromatic Dispersion Estimation for Polarization Multiplexed Optical Systems

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
We propose a full transmission link chromatic dispersion (CD) estimation technique for polarization-multiplexed coherent optical single carrier system using data-aided channel estimation and least square quadratic fit. New training sequences based on Chu

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Exploiting Sequence Analysis for Accurate Light-Field Depth Estimation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Depth estimation for light field (LF) images is the cornerstone of many applications of light field cameras, such as 3D reconstruction, defects inspection, face liveness detection, and so forth.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Typical Algorithms for Estimating Hurst Exponent of Time Sequence: A Data Analyst’s Perspective

open access: yesIEEE Access
The Hurst exponent is a significant metric for characterizing time sequences with long-term memory property and it arises in many fields such as physics, engineering, mathematics, statistics, economics, psychology, and so on.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

An Anti-Interference Synchronization for OFDM Systems Based on Scrambling Sequence

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
To improve the performance of the synchronization in OFDM systems in the presence of interference, a new synchronization algorithm based on scrambling sequence is proposed in this paper, which redesigns the training sequence with the constant amplitude ...
