Iterative Estimation in Turbo Equalization Process [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 2014
This paper presents the iterative estimation in turbo equalization process. Turbo equalization is the process of reception in which equalization and decoding are done together, not as separate processes.

Attenuation Estimation From Correlated Sequences [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2007
We calculate the frequency-dependent variance of the log spectral ratio for correlated time series. This is used to produce a weighted least-squares approach to attenuation estimation, with weights calculated from estimated coherence. Applications to synthetic and real data illustrate that, for correlated series, the method improves significantly on ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Data-Aided Chromatic Dispersion Estimation for Polarization Multiplexed Optical Systems

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
We propose a full transmission link chromatic dispersion (CD) estimation technique for polarization-multiplexed coherent optical single carrier system using data-aided channel estimation and least square quadratic fit. New training sequences based on Chu

Density estimation for $β$-dependent sequences

open access: yes, 2016
We study the Lp-integrated risk of some classical estimators of the density, when the observations are drawn from a strictly stationary sequence. The results apply to a large class of sequences, which can be non-mixing in the sense of Rosenblatt and long-range dependent. The main probabilistic tool is a new Rosenthal-type inequality for partial sums of

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

An estimate of large‐scale sequencing accuracy [PDF]

open access: yesThe EMBO Reports, 2000
The accuracy of large-scale DNA sequencing is difficult to estimate without redundant effort. We have found that the mobile genetic element IS10, a component of the transposon Tn10, has contaminated a significant number of clones in the public databases, as a result of the use of the transposon in bacterial cloning strain construction.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Typical Algorithms for Estimating Hurst Exponent of Time Sequence: A Data Analyst’s Perspective

open access: yesIEEE Access
The Hurst exponent is a significant metric for characterizing time sequences with long-term memory property and it arises in many fields such as physics, engineering, mathematics, statistics, economics, psychology, and so on.

Exploiting Sequence Analysis for Accurate Light-Field Depth Estimation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Depth estimation for light field (LF) images is the cornerstone of many applications of light field cameras, such as 3D reconstruction, defects inspection, face liveness detection, and so forth.
