Sequencing-Based Typing of HLA

2007
Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing is largely performed by use of PCR-based techniques in patients that require stem cell transplantation. In this chapter, HLA typing by sequencing-based typing techniques is described.

Multivariate Sequences of Binomial Type

Studies in Applied Mathematics, 1977
Using the notion of convolution of binomial sequences it is possible to show that Sheffer sequences, cross sequences, and Steffensen sequences are only mild generalizations of ordinary sequences of binomial type.

Multi-Locus Sequence Typing

2003
It has recently become apparent that many bacterial populations undergo extremely high levels of horizontal genetic exchange, such that traditional clonal models of bacterial diversity are now inadequate (1-3). Such recombination is especially apparent in naturally transformable bacteria such as members of the genus Neisseria (4). This has implications

Fibonacci-Type Sequences

The Mathematics Teacher, 1970
The Fibonacci sequence, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, …, is generated by finding the sum of two consecutive terms to obtain the next term.

Multilocus Sequence Typing of Bacteria

Annual Review of Microbiology, 2006
Multilocus sequence typing (MLST) was proposed in 1998 as a portable, universal, and definitive method for characterizing bacteria, using the human pathogen Neisseria meningitidis as an example. In addition to providing a standardized approach to data collection, by examining the nucleotide sequences of multiple loci encoding housekeeping genes, or ...

Frequency offset refocused PISEMA-type sequences

Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 2005
The popular PISEMA experiment is highly sensitive to the 1H chemical shift dispersion and the choice of the 1H carrier frequency. This is due to the off-resonance 1H irradiation in the FSLG-CP sequence employed during the dipolar evolution period. In the modified approach described in this work, the interfering frequency offset terms are suppressed. In

HLA‐B locus sequence‐based typing

Tissue Antigens, 1999
We describe an approach for HLA‐B high‐resolution typing. A single locus‐specific amplification generates a 1‐kb fragment useful for direct sequencing. Four internal primers are necessary for exon 2 and 3 cycle‐sequencing in both directions. Fluorescent dye‐labelled nucleotides are incorporated during cycle‐sequencing and reaction products are analyzed

HLA class I sequence-based typing

Human Immunology, 1993
HLA oligogenotyping has been used successfully to characterize most phenotypically undetectable variants of class II genes. Limitations inherent to the class I system have, however, complicated the application of this and other molecular approaches to HLA class I typing.

Multilocus Sequence Typing of Staphylococcus epidermidis

2013
Multilocus sequence typing (MLST) is a genotyping method that is well suited for studying the population genetics and evolution of Staphylococcus epidermidis. The central MLST database for S. epidermidis continues to grow, and new analysis methods for extracting historical information from MLST data continue to be developed.

Identification of New Sequence Types for Multilocus Sequence Typing of Pediococcus pentosaceus

Food Engineering Progress, 2015
The genus Pediococcus belongs to the lactic acid bacteria and includes 15 species which are used in the food industry as both starter and probiotic cultures. The importance of Pediococcus spp. is due to their use as starter cultures in fermented meat as well as to their presence as the natural microbiota in vegetables. The availability
