Psychophysics and the judgment of price: judging complex objects on a non-physical dimension elicits sequential effects like those in perceptual tasks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
When participants in psychophysical experiments are asked to estimate or identify stimuli which differ on a single physical dimension, their judgments are influenced by the local experimental context — the item presented and judgment made on the ...

Sequential Three-Way Decision of Tolerance- Based Multi-Granularity Fuzzy-Rough Sets

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The existing three-way decision-making methods are classified into two classes-a single one-step three-way decision-making and a sequential, multi-step three-way decision-making, and this paper studies the latter.

Logic-Based Sequential Decision-Making

open access: yesProceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2019
Deep reinforcement learning (DRL) has gained great success by learning directly from high-dimensional sensory inputs, yet is notorious for the lack of interpretability. Interpretability of the subtasks is critical in hierarchical decision-making as it increases the transparency of black-box-style DRL approach and helps the RL practitioners to ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Delay-Tolerant Sequential Decision Making for Task Offloading in Mobile Edge Computing Environments

open access: yesInformation, 2019
In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the use of mobile devices and their applications. Meanwhile, cloud computing has been considered as the latest generation of computing infrastructure. There has also been a transformation in cloud

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Modeling Sequential Information Acquisition Behavior in Rational Decision Making

open access: yes, 2016
Most real-life decisions are made with less than perfect information and there is often some opportunity to acquire additional information to increase the quality of the decision.

Choice history biases subsequent evidence accumulation

open access: yeseLife, 2019
Perceptual choices depend not only on the current sensory input but also on the behavioral context, such as the history of one’s own choices. Yet, it remains unknown how such history signals shape the dynamics of later decision formation.
