Inhibition of cyclin‐dependent kinases 12/13 using CT7439 as a treatment for colorectal cancer with CDK12 upregulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The proposed mechanism of action for the CDK12/13 inhibitor and cyclin K degrader, CT7439. CDK12/13 inhibition interrupts transcription elongation, leading to increased DNA damage that results in cell death. This agent is a potentially novel treatment option for patients with colorectal cancer. Created in BioRender. Cyclin‐dependent kinase (CDK) 12 and

Serine Protease Autotransporters of Enterobacteriaceae (SPATEs): Biogenesis and Function

open access: yesToxins, 2010
Serine Protease Autotransporters of Enterobacteriaceae (SPATEs) constitute a large family of proteases secreted by Escherichia coli and Shigella. SPATEs exhibit two distinct proteolytic activities.

Elevated serum matrix metalloprotease (MMP-2) as a candidate biomarker for stable COPD

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine, 2020
Background The increasing trend of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in becoming the third leading cause of deaths by 2020 is of great concern, globally as well as in India.

Serine proteases and serine protease inhibitors in testicular physiology: the plasminogen activation system [PDF]

open access: yesReproduction, 2007
Abstract The testis is an organ in which a series of radical remodeling events occurs during development and in adult life. These events likely rely on a sophisticated network of proteases and complementary inhibitors, including the plasminogen activation system.

Understanding serine proteases implications on Leishmania spp lifecycle

open access: yes, 2018
Serine proteases have significant functions over a broad range of relevant biological processes to the Leishmania spp lifecycle. Data gathered here present an update on the Leishmania spp serine proteases and the status of these enzymes as part of the ...

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral

Glucose Deprivation‐Driven Concurrent Induction of Apoptosis/Disulfidptosis/Ferroptosis by Tumor Targeting Nanoassemblies in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Innovative hybrid nanoassemblies installed with ferrocene, D‐α‐tocopherol succinate, and phloretin exploit the metabolic vulnerability of triple‐negative breast cancer under glucose starvation. By blocking glucose uptake, this single nanoplatform simultaneously orchestrates apoptosis, disulfidptosis, and ferroptosis to achieve synergistic and ...
