Linezolid-induced serotonin syndrome

open access: yesIndustrial Psychiatry Journal, 2020
Linezolid is an oxazolidinone antibiotic, which is a weak, reversible, nonselective monoamine oxidase A and B inhibitor; is known to increase serotonin levels, and has been implicated in the development of serotonin syndrome (SS).

Serotonin syndrome in stroke patients

open access: yesJournal of Rehabilitation Medicine, 2015
Serotonin syndrome is a potentially life-threatening condition that can be caused by administration of agents that increase serotonergic activity in the brain. We report here on 2 stroke patients who presented with serotonin syndrome following administration of dopaminergic agents. Two stroke patients were administered ropinirole (patient 1) and ...

Enhancing Small Molecule Sensing With Aptameric Functionalized Nano Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Unveiling an ultra‐sensitive, non‐invasive neurotransmitter sensor. For the first time, a nanoscale sensor for detecting an important neurotransmitter was demonstrated using micro‐electromechanical systems (MEMS) technology. Our approach utilized field‐effect transistor (FET)‐based readout to enable pico‐molar detection of biomarkers in sweat.

Gut Mycobiota‐Associated Tryptophan Catabolites Protect Against Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota participates in the progression of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) through microbiota‐host interaction. However, the beneficial role of commensal mycobiota in MASLD progression remains poorly understood.

Serotonin Syndrome after Concomitant Treatment with Linezolid and Citalopram [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Linezolid, a new synthetic antimicrobial, is an important weapon against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Although there are reports of serotonin syndrome developing after concomitant use of linezolid and the selective serotonin ...
