A survey of QoS-aware web service composition techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Web service composition can be briefly described as the process of aggregating services with disparate functionalities into a new composite service in order to meet increasingly complex needs of users.

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Subgraph Query for Building Service-Based Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Given the broad applications of service-oriented architecture (SOA) in service-oriented software engineering, service-based systems (SBSs) built from existing Web services are becoming increasingly popular.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

NLSC: Unrestricted Natural Language-based Service Composition through Sentence Embeddings

open access: yes, 2019
Current approaches for service composition (assemblies of atomic services) require developers to use: (a) domain-specific semantics to formalize services that restrict the vocabulary for their descriptions, and (b) translation mechanisms for service ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Practical Remediation of Hg-Contaminated Groundwater by MoS2: Batch and Column Tests

open access: yesMolecules
Trace mercury contamination in groundwater poses a serious threat to ecological systems and human health. The kinetics and isotherms of MoS2 (MS) for Hg removal were studied in batch tests under an unfavorable high salinity and low mercury environment ...

A Hybrid Service Selection and Composition Model for Cloud-Edge Computing in the Internet of Things

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Cloud-edge computing is a hybrid model of computing where resources and services provided via the Internet of Things (IoT) between large-scale and long-term data informs of the cloud layer and small-scale and short-term data as edge layer.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

An architecture for autonomic web service process planning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Web service composition is a technology that has received considerable attention in the last number of years. Languages and tools to aid in the process of creating composite web services have been received specific attention.
