IMPROVING ROAD SAFETY: SUPERVISED MACHINE LEARNING ANALYSIS OF FACTORS INFLUENCING CRASH SEVERITY [PDF]
Road traffic crash severity is shaped by a complex interplay of human, vehicular, environmental, and infrastructural factors. While machine learning (ML) has shown promise in analyzing crash data, gaps remain in model interpretability and region-specific

Storm severity detection (RF) [PDF]
Measurement of lightning location data which occur together with continental thunderstorms and hurricanes was examined, and a second phase linear interferometer was deployed. Electrical emission originating from tropical storms in the Gulf of Mexico were

Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Gastroenterological Surgery and Management of Clostridioides difficile Infection: A Review
Fever and diarrhea are the common symptoms of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI); however, pseudomembranous enteritis, megacolonization, and paralytic ileus have been observed in severe cases. C.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Burn wound classification model using spatial frequency-domain imaging and machine learning. [PDF]
Accurate assessment of burn severity is critical for wound care and the course of treatment. Delays in classification translate to delays in burn management, increasing the risk of scarring and infection.
