Janus Kinase Mediates Faster Recovery From Sevoflurane Anesthesia Than Isoflurane Anesthesia in the Migratory Locusts

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2022
Inhalation anesthetics isoflurane and sevoflurane have been widely used in clinical practice for anesthesia. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the faster recovery from sevoflurane anesthesia than isoflurane anesthesia remain largely ...

Glucose‐Responsive and Analgesic Gel for Diabetic Subcutaneous Abscess Treatment by Simultaneously Boosting Photodynamic Therapy and Relieving Hypoxia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The work constructs a glucose‐triggered gel for diabetic abscess treatment. The results demonstrate that the gel catalyzes glucose into oxygen, alleviates the hypoxia, and ensures sufficient ROS generation to combat pathogenic bacteria. Simultaneously, borneol within the gel can enhance the antibacterial activity of ROS and alleviate pain in patients ...

Inhalational or total intravenous anaesthesia: is total intravenous anaesthesia useful and are there economic benefits? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
PURPOSE OF REVIEW: The comparison of inhalational and intravenous anaesthesia has been the subject of many controlled trials and meta-analyses. These reported diverse endpoints typically including measures of the speed and quality of induction of ...

Impact of different anesthetic protocols during anesthesia for the establishment of a porcine model of acute kidney injury

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study details the adaptations required to establish a long‐term anesthetic protocol in pigs. Three protocols were evaluated, with some causing malignant hyperthermia, hypoglycemia, or hemoynamic instability. The final protocol proved effective for developing a porcine AKI model requiring adequate arterial pressure maintenance.

Severe Vasoplegic Syndrome Treated with Angiotensin II and Hemoadsorption Therapy after Cardiac Surgery

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Vasoplegic syndrome (VS) is a common complication after cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). The main pathophysiology mechanism of VS includes a systemic inflammatory response syndrome due to surgical trauma, release of pro‐inflammatory mediators caused by blood contact with foreign surfaces of heart‐lung machine (pump and tubing)

Sevoflurane induces inflammation of microglia in hippocampus of neonatal rats by inhibiting Wnt/β-Catenin/CaMKIV pathway

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2021
Objective: To investigate the effect of sevoflurane on inflammation of microglia in hippocampus of neonatal rats, and to investigate whether the related mechanism is related to Wnt/β-Catenin/CaMKIV pathway. Methods: Neonatal rats were anesthetized with 2%

Sevoflurane attenuates brain damage through inhibiting autophagy and apoptosis in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion rats

open access: yesMolecular Medicine Reports, 2019
The present study aimed to investigate the effects of sevoflurane post-conditioning in a rat brain cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) model and examine its possible mechanism.

Profile of sugammadex for reversal of neuromuscular blockade in the elderly: Current perspectives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The number of elderly patients is increasing worldwide. This will have a significant impact on the practice of anesthesia in future decades. Anesthesiologists must provide care for an increasing number of elderly patients, who have an elevated risk of ...
