MicroRNA: sex steroids, hormonal carcinogenesis, hormonal sensitivity of tumor tissue

open access: yesУспехи молекулярной онкологии, 2015
Sex hormones, regulating normal physiological processes of most tissues and organs, are considered to be one of the key factors in the development and progression of the reproductive system cancer.

Pigment Epithelium‐Derived Factor Deficiency Impairs Hippocampal Glutamate Homeostasis and Cognitive Function by Downregulating Astrocytic GLT‐1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The chronic glutamate‐induced excitotoxicity hypothesis has profoundly informed the therapeutic strategies employed in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). This study shows pigment epithelium‐derived factor (PEDF) regulates astrocytic glutamate transporter‐1 (GLT‐1)‐mediated glutamate homeostasis and cognition. Reduced PEDF correlates with lower Mini‐Mental State

Cross-sex Hormones and Acute Cardiovascular Events in Transgender Persons

open access: yesAnnals of Internal Medicine, 2018
Transgender persons are a diverse group whose gender identity differs from a male or female sex designation, which usually is assigned at birth (1). Although some transgender persons may not self-identify on the basis of binary definitions (2), a person ...

Adamts1 Exacerbates Post‐Myocardial Infarction Scar Formation via Mechanosensing of Integrin α8

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Proposed mechanistic model of ADAMTS1‐ITGα8 mechanotransduction in post‐MI scar formation. Schematic illustration showing the mechanistic pathway by which endothelial cell (EC) derived Adamts1 regulates cardiac fibroblast activation through ITGα8‐mediated mechanotransduction following myocardial infarction (MI).

Norepinephrine Induces Sertoli Cell Ferroptosis via Receptors Desensitization Causing Stress‐Related Male Reproductive Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Psychological stress activates the sympathetic–adrenal axis, elevating norepinephrine (NE) and suppressing reproductive hormones, thereby impairing male reproduction. Excess NE overactivates and desensitizes β‐adrenergic receptors (β‐ARs), triggering Sertoli cell ferroptosis and disrupting spermatogenesis.

Tie2‐Dependent Mechanisms Influence Leptomeningeal Collateral Dynamics and Reperfusion Following Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that endothelial EphA4 limits Tie2 activation and curbs leptomeningeal collateral expansion after ischemic stroke. Pharmacological activation of Tie2 by an Ang‐1 mimetic or genetic loss of EphA4 stimulates collateral vessel growth, improves cerebral perfusion, and enhances neurological recovery.
