A Mixed Property-Based Automatic Shadow Detection Approach for VHR Multispectral Remote Sensing Images

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Shadows in very high-resolution multispectral remote sensing images hinder many applications, such as change detection, target recognition, and image classification.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Fast and Efficient Shadow Detection Algorithm via Shadow Decoupling and Reparameterization

open access: yes工程科学与技术
Since the number of pixels along shadow boundaries is often significantly smaller than that of pixles within shadow regions, accurately detecting shadow boundary areas is more challenging than detecting pixels within the shadow interior.

Real‐time vehicle shadow detection

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2015
In many traffic‐related applications, such as traffic management and structural health monitoring for roads, an accurate estimation of a moving vehicle's size and shape is needed before proceeding further. However, due to the presence of cast shadows, these properties cannot be obtained accurately using common object detection systems. To deal with the

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Influence of the shadow economy on general budget in Ukraine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Increasing shadow economy leads to negative consequences and containment of social and economic development that result to reducing of the state programs in the Ukraine.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Shadow Spatiotemporal Track-Before-Detect Approach for Distributed UAV-Borne Video SAR

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Shadow detection has become a key technology for ground-based moving target indication in video synthetic aperture radar (SAR). However, single-platform video SAR faces the issue of moving-target shadows being occluded.

Shadow detection on color images

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
Abstract The shadow areas cause significant problems in objects recognition and classification applications. The shadows have uniform properties in some colour spaces. Thus, the shadow detection can be effectively done by applying the threshold processing.
