Heterologous expression of nattokinase from B. subtilis natto using Pichia pastoris GS115 and assessment of its thrombolytic activity

open access: yesBMC Biotechnology, 2021
Background Nattokinase is a fibrinolytic enzyme that has huge market value as a nutritional supplement for health promotion. In order to increase nattokinase yields, fermentation conditions, strains, cultivation media, and feeding strategies have been ...

Valorization of a Pyrolytic Aqueous Condensate and Its Main Components for L-Malic Acid Production with Aspergillus oryzae DSM 1863

open access: yesFermentation, 2022
Pyrolytic aqueous condensate (PAC) might serve as a cost-effective substrate for microbial malic acid production, as it is an unused side stream of the fast pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass that contains acetol and acetate as potential carbon sources.

Gram-scale production of recombinant microbial enzymes in shake flasks [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 2017
Heterologous production of recombinant proteins is a cornerstone of microbiological and biochemical research as well as various biotechnological processes. Yields and quality of produced proteins have a tremendous impact on structural and enzymology studies, development of new biopharmaceuticals and establishing new biocatalytic processes.

Obstructions to shake sliceness for links [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Shake slice generalizes the notion of a slice link, naturally extending the notion of shake slice knots to links. There is also a relative version, shake concordance, that generalizes link concordance. We show that if two links are shake concordant, then their zero surgery manifolds are homology cobordant.

Floquet Topological States in Shaking Optical Lattices [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. A 89, 061603 (2014), 2014
In this letter we propose realistic schemes to realize topologically nontrivial Floquet states by shaking optical lattices, using both one-dimension lattice and two-dimensional honeycomb lattice as examples. The topological phase in the two-dimensional model exhibits quantum anomalous Hall effect.

Growth Kinetics, Purification and Characterization of α-amylase Produced from Bacillus licheniformis DSM-1969 using Lignocellulosic Banana Waste as an Elicitor

open access: yesBioResources, 2014
In this study, banana waste was used to investigate its elicitation potential for induced production of α-amylase from Bacillus licheniformis DSM-1969. Initially, six different media were investigated to select the composition with optimal yield.

Time-Resolved Monitoring of the Oxygen Transfer Rate of Chinese Hamster Ovary Cells Provides Insights Into Culture Behavior in Shake Flasks

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2021
Cultivations of mammalian cells are routinely conducted in shake flasks. In contrast to instrumented bioreactors, reliable options for non-invasive, time-resolved monitoring of the culture status in shake flasks are lacking.

Metabolic Engineering of Escherichia coli for the Production of β-Nicotinamide Mononucleotide [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue, 2023
A modular metabolic engineering for Escherichia coli was designed for efficient production of β-nicotinamide mononucleotide (β-NMN). First, eight enzymes involved in the shunt metabolic pathways of nicotinamide (NAM) and β-NMN were inactivated to reduce ...

Shaking Force Balancing of the Orthoglide [PDF]

open access: yesIn: Zeghloul S., Laribi M., Sandoval Arevalo J. (eds) Advances in Service and Industrial Robotics. RAAD 2020. Mechanisms and Machine Science, vol 84. Springer, pp.227-234, 2020, 2211-0984, 2020
The shaking force balancing is a well-known problem in the design of high-speed robotic systems because the variable dynamic loads cause noises, wear and fatigue of mechanical structures. Different solutions, for full or partial shaking force balancing, via internal mass redistribution or by adding auxiliary links were developed.

Potential errors in conventional DOT measurement techniques in shake flasks and verification using a rotating flexitube optical sensor

open access: yesBMC Biotechnology, 2011
Background Dissolved oxygen tension (DOT) is an important parameter for evaluating a bioprocess. Conventional means to measure DOT in shake flasks using fixed Clark-type electrodes immersed in the bulk liquid are problematic, because they inherently ...
