The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Influence of the shape on the consumers perception of the packaging attributes

open access: yesJournal of Graphic Engineering and Design, 2015
Packaging for fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) demands constant attention in order to stay competitive in modern dynamic markets. FMCG consumers do not think about the purchasing product until they enter the place of purchase. This emphasizes importance

Multi-objective design optimisation of a 3D-rail stamping process using a robust multi-objective optimisation platform (RMOP) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The paper investigates the multi-objective design optimisation of a stamping process to control the final shape and the final quality using advanced high strength steels. The design problem of the stamping process is formulated to minimise the difference

Shaped Hierarchical Architectural Design

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 2004
AbstractArchitectural design of software systems deals with high level configuration structuring. Checking that a system belongs to a software architecture style (or shape) implies that the architecture is an instance of a structurally defined class.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

A comparative study on the fashion design process utilizing shape memory textiles and conventional textiles: implications for the industry and education

open access: yesFashion and Textiles
This study compares fashion design processes involving shape memory textiles (SMTs) compared to ones involving conventional textiles (CTs). The primary objectives were to identify barriers to the adoption of SMTs in the fashion industry from designers ...
