Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Polygons as optimal shapes with convexity constraint

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper, we focus on the following general shape optimization problem: $$ \min\{J(\Om), \Om convex, \Om\in\mathcal S_{ad}\}, $$ where $\mathcal S_{ad}$ is a set of 2-dimensional admissible shapes and $J:\mathcal{S}_{ad}\to\R$ is a shape functional.

Optimism Shapes Mindset

open access: yesJournal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education, 2019
The present study investigated our hypothesis of an underlying relationship between optimism/pessimism and implicit theories of intelligence. We investigated the psychometric properties of optimism and mindset scales in our sample, compared confirmatory factor analysis models of the scales, examined the full measurement model to

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

Design modeling for shape optimization [PDF]

open access: yes
Some important aspects of design modeling for shape optimization are discussed for both stamped sheet metal components and cast solid components. For stamped components the basis for the modeling approach is a boundary design function.

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Shape optimization method for nozzle design

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2023
The optimization of the nozzle shape was carried out using the finite element incompressible viscous flow solver, with discretization of total derivative, with the originally developed software.
