Comparison of the shape parameters of DNA-cationic lipid complexes and model polyelectrolyte-lipid complexes

open access: yes, 2004
In this study, we used a rheological method to study the shape of DNA-cationic lipid complexes and model polyelectrolyte-lipid complexes. We introduced two kinds of anionic polyelectrolytes, sodium polygalacturonate (PGU) and sodium dextran sulfate (DSS),

Sex differences in the three-dimensional morphology of unruptured intracranial aneurysms

open access: yesNeuroImage: Reports
Objective: Women have a higher rupture risk of intracranial aneurysms than men. One possible explanation is that aneurysm volume and shape irregularity, both linked to rupture risk, may differ between women and men.

Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...

Identification of viscoplastic parameters and characterization of Lüders behaviour using digital image correlation and the virtual fields method

open access: yes, 2008
In this study, tensile loading experiments are performed on notched steel bars at an average applied strain rate of 1s-1. Displacement fields are measured across the specimen by coupling digital image correlation (DIC) with imaging using high speed CCD ...

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created
