Stability analysis of semi-trimaran flat hull ship for a sea transportation model

open access: yesCommunications in Science and Technology, 2017
Indonesia as an archipelagic nation highly requires a model of sea transportation as interconnection mainframe between islands. An effective and efficient use of sea transportation is the main factor to improve Indonesian economy.

ChicGrasp: Imitation‐Learning‐Based Customized Dual‐Jaw Gripper Control for Manipulation of Delicate, Irregular Bio‐Products

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Automated poultry processing lines still rely on humans to lift slippery, easily bruised carcasses onto a shackle conveyor. Deformability, anatomical variance, and hygiene rules make conventional suction and scripted motions unreliable. We present ChicGrasp, an end‐to‐end hardware‐software co‐designed imitation learning framework, to offer a ...

Malectin Alleviates Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus via Glycoprotein Quality Control Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Malectin alleviates high glucose‐induced ER stress and damage in placental trophoblasts, a function dependent on its six critical carbohydrate‐binding residues. In a GDM mouse model, administration of TAT‐Malectin ameliorated hyperglycemia and placental ER stress and prevented fetal macrosomia.

Marburg Virus Glycoprotein Is a Remarkable Virulent Factor Linked to Hemorrhagic Pathology: Evidence from Multimodal Experimental Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By integrating data from in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo models, our research identifies the MARV glycoprotein as a remarkable hemorrhagic factor, filling a major gap in this important field. It also provides practical experimental tools for the basic research on viral pathogenesis and applied research aimed at antiviral intervention for hemorrhagic ...

Influence of freeboard on ship stability in rough weather: A probabilistic analysis [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2017
Freeboard assignment for seagoing vessels is carried out according to the deterministic provisions of the International Convention on Load Lines. In present investigation, however, an attempt is made to evaluate the influence of freeboard on the dynamic ...

A nonlilear controller for ship autopilots

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2012
Conventional ship autopilots are designed based on a linear ship model using pole - placement technique or linear optimal theory.  However, in operation, the ship kinematical parameters can go out the linear limits.

The Impact of Sloshing Liquids on Ship Stability for Various Dimensions of Partly Filled Tanks [PDF]

open access: yesTransNav, 2013
Liquid sloshing phenomenon taking place in partly filled ships' tanks directly affects the stability of a vessel. However, only static calculations are carried out onboard ships nowadays and static transfer of liquid weight is taken into account in the ...

Corals and Reef‐Dwelling Fish Regulate Carbon Storage and Cycling Processes in Coral Reef Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Coral reefs are biodiversity hotspots, yet their role in carbon storage and cycling remains poorly understood. Using field surveys and modeling in the South China Sea, we reveal the overlooked potential of carbon storage in reef ecosystems and how reef fish, corals, and surface sediment jointly shape reef carbon reservoirs.
