Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Surveying consumer preferences for eco-labeled fruits and vegetables in Euro-Mediterranean alternative food systems

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems
The growing environmental challenges in Mediterranean fruit and vegetables production, including water scarcity, soil degradation, and biodiversity loss, have led to increased interest in alternative food systems as a pathway to sustainable agriculture ...

Vertical Linkages in Agri-Food Supply Chains: Roles for Producers

open access: yesEuropean Countryside, 2023
Agricultural producers are entities that largely decide on the structure of the agri-food supply chain. Currently, the European Union is striving to shorten supply chains in agriculture, as short supply chains are ecologically, economically and socially ...

Value in short food supply chains

open access: yesScientific Papers of Silesian University of Technology. Organization and Management Series
Purpose: This study examines consumer preferences in Short Food Supply Chains (SFSCs) to identify key factors influencing purchasing decisions. The research aims to bridge the gap in understanding consumer-perceived value in SFSCs and provide practical insights for producers and policymakers. Design/methodology/approach: The study employs Q-methodology,

Is the Short Food Supply Chain an Efficient Solution for Sustainability in Food Market?

open access: yesAgriculture and Agricultural Science Procedia, 2016
AbstractShort supply chain, as legally defined by Reg. 1305/13, is able to reach goals of “sustainable agriculture”, through the reduction of transportation costs and consequently of CO2 emissions. In addition, it promotes biodiversity and implements periurban agriculture. The interest for short food chain is growing in EU and in national legislations,

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

GENERATION Z PURCHASING BEHAVIORS WITHIN URBAN SHORT FOOD SUPPLY CHAINS [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the Polish Association of Agricultural and Agribusiness Economists
Short food supply chains (SFSCs) can play a crucial role in creating sustainable and resilient urban food systems. The primary objective of the study was to understand Generation Z’s perceptions of short food supply chains (SFSCs) in urban areas of ...

Catene del valore e cibo ai tempi del COVID-19. Una ricerca esplorativa sulle filiere corte in Italia

open access: yesFuori Luogo, 2021

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated
