A UAV-Based Sensor System for Measuring Land Surface Albedo: Tested over a Boreal Peatland Ecosystem

open access: yesDrones, 2019
A multiple sensor payload for a multi-rotor based UAV platform was developed and tested for measuring land surface albedo and spectral measurements at user-defined spatial, temporal, and spectral resolutions. The system includes a Matrice 600 UAV with an

Genomic Offset Analyses: Mind Your Climate Variables

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology Communications, Volume 1, Issue 2, June 2026.
Recent methods based on genomic offset (GO) statistics aim to quantify the risk of non‐adaptation of populations to future climates. This study assesses how well genomic offset values correspond to population variation in fitness, depending on the methods and climate data used.

Ground-based observation of shortwave solar radiation during solar eclipse on october 3, 2005 in Chisinau, Moldova

open access: yesMoldavian Journal of the Physical Sciences, 2006
The influence of partial annular solar eclipse observed during October 3, 2005 onto the variation of shortwave downwelling solar irradiation at the Chisinau site is analyzed. Evaluation of the components of broadband solar radiation from UV-B to near

An eco‐evolutionary optimality model explains the acclimated temperature response of photosynthesis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 5, Page 2884-2899, June 2026.
Summary The optimal temperature of photosynthesis (Topt) generally increases with plant growth temperature. Changes in Topt are associated with changes in the maximum carboxylation capacity at 25°C (Vcmax25) and the maximum electron transport rate at 25°C (Jmax25). The ratio between Jmax25 and Vcmax25 declines with warming.

The land surface water and energy budgets over the Tibetan Plateau [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Tibetan Plateau plays an important role in the Asian Monsoon and global general circulation system. Due to the lack of quantitative observations and complicated cold season processes in high elevation terrain, however, the land surface water and energy ...

Volcanic Forcing Overwhelmed AMV's Influence on Eurasian Winter Temperatures During the Little Ice Age

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract The warm phase of Atlantic Multidecadal Variability (AMV) induces winter cooling in central Eurasia and widespread warming elsewhere during the instrumental period. To overcome the limitation imposed by short length of instrumental records in studying multidecadal climate variability, in this study, we examine changes in AMV teleconnections ...

Comprehensive evaluation of multi-source reanalysis datasets for surface atmospheric parameters over the Greenland Ice Sheet

open access: yesAdvances in Climate Change Research
The Greenland Ice Sheet is losing mass at an accelerating rate. In situ observations are sparse due to its harsh environment, making reanalysis datasets an essential alternative.

A New Method to Calibrate Shortwave Solar Radiation Measurements

open access: yesJournal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology, 2014
Abstract A method is proposed to simultaneously calibrate shortwave (0.3–4 μm) global, direct, and scattering solar irradiance (GSI, DSI, and SSI, respectively) measurements. The method uses the World Radiation Reference (WRR) as a calibration standard and on-site radiation measurements as inputs.

Simulating Shallow Mesoscale Overturning Circulations in the Trades With Kilometer‐Scale Earth System Models

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract Shallow mesoscale overturning circulations (SMOCs) are ubiquitous in the trades, primarily triggered by mesoscale convective heating and influencing the organization of shallow cumuli. Accurate representation of SMOCs and their co‐variability with moisture is crucial for capturing mesoscale cloud organization in models and improving climate ...
