Elimination of Escherichia coli from Oysters using Sodium Bicarbonate

open access: yesWalailak Journal of Science and Technology, 2013
Sodium bicarbonate is a disinfectant that can be used in food processing because it is safe for humans and is cost effective. In this study, sodium bicarbonate was used to eliminate E. coli from oysters (Crassostrea belcheri).

Cell Calcification Models and Their Implications for Medicine and Biomaterial Research

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Calcification, is the process by which the tissues containing minerals are formed, occurring during normal physiological processes, or in pathological conditions. Here, it is aimed to give a comprehensive overview of the range of cell models available, and the approaches taken by these models, highlighting when and how methodological divergences arise,

Multiscale Hybrid Surface Topographies Orchestrate Immune Regulation, Antibacterial Defense, and Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Hybrid wrinkled topographies coordinate immune, tissue, and bacterial interactions. The surfaces promote osteointegration, tune macrophage polarization, and inhibit biofilm formation, highlighting a multifunctional strategy for next‐generation implant design.

A Modular Perfusion Bioreactor Platform for Simulating Bone Regeneration and Fracture Healing: Integrating Mechanical Loading and Dual Perfusion for Advanced In Vitro Models

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A modular bioreactor platform was developed in order to replicate bone homeostasis and pathology, thereby integrating mechanical loading, dynamic perfusion, and a 3D‐printed microfluidic chamber. With precise control of environmental parameters and dual perfusion for composite tissue models, the system enhances physiological relevance for studying bone

Borate‐Ion‐Stimulated Macrophages Promote Osteogenic Differentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The immune responses of mouse macrophages stimulated by borate ions promote the osteogenic differentiation and mineralization of mouse bone marrow–derived mesenchymal stem cells in an ion‐dose‐dependent manner by providing cytokines, including BMP‐2.

Visible Light Induced DLP‐Printed Oxygen‐Releasing TPMS Scaffolds Mitigate Early Hypoxia in Bone Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Visible light‐induced digital light processing 3D printed Primitive‐triply periodic minimal surface hydrogels embed CaO2–Si core–shell nanoparticles to deliver short‐term oxygen during the avascular window. The scaffolds maintain cytocompatibility, elevate osteopontin in vitro, and enhance calvarial defect repair in vivo without toxicity.

Single and combined effects of ammonia and nitrite on Litopenaeus vannamei: Histological, physiological and molecular responses

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
The Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is affected by the accumulation of ammonia and nitrite, in an intensive culture model. However, the mechanisms of combined stress toxicity remain unclear.
