Abstract Effective fishery management policy depends on accurate life‐history data, particularly for harvested species. Longevity is a core life‐history trait that is directly related to annual survival and lifetime reproductive potential, but fish longevity is generally not well documented, particularly for long‐lived species.

We observed a range of behaviours during foraging, including forward swimming, vertical diving, swooping, dabbing, sweeping and rotations. Head dabbing was also sometimes accompanied by the seal producing infrasounds, the bouts of which coincided with rhythmic whisker protractions. ABSTRACT Pinnipeds use their whiskers to detect and follow hydrodynamic

CONCERT: A Modular Reconfigurable Robot for Construction
ABSTRACT This paper presents CONCERT, a fully reconfigurable modular collaborative robot (cobot) for multiple on‐site operations in a construction site. CONCERT has been designed to support human activities in construction sites by leveraging two main characteristics: high‐power density motors and modularity. In this way, the robot is able to perform a

Habitat mapping effort at the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary – Current status and future needs [PDF]
With elevating interest to establish conservation efforts for groundfish stocks and continued scrutiny over the value of marine protected areas along the west coast, the importance of enhancing our knowledge of seabed characteristics through mapping ...

Abstract Hypereutrophic lakes support high sedimentation of labile organic carbon, promoting sediment anoxia and GHG potential production. Lakes with complex morphometry exhibit extensive spatial heterogeneity in sediment methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide CO2 dynamics. We wondered: do lakes with uniform bathymetry show low spatial variation in sediments'

A Mapping Method Fusing Forward-Looking Sonar and Side-Scan Sonar
In modern ocean exploration, forward-looking sonar (FLS) provides real-time 2D imaging of the seabed ahead, but its detection range is relatively limited.

Caratterizzazione fisiografica, geomorfologica e bionomica della Rias di Santa Teresa di Gallura: Sardegna nord-orientale = Physiographic, geomorphological and bionomic characterization of the Santa Teresa di Gallura Rias (N.E. Sardinia) [PDF]
An underwater survey in the Rias of S. Teresa di Gallura was made to characterize the benthic environment by integrating three methods: Side Scan Sonar, ROV, SCUBA diving. The main bionomic features at different depths were described and mapped.

Catch and environmental performance of modified scallop dredge designs were assessed. Skid belly bags increased scallop catch by 14%–19% and reduced gear wear. N‐Virodredge reduced catch of scallop juveniles and sorting time. Gear footprint on the seabed was reduced by 50% for skid belly bags. N‐Virodredge cut fuel use by 30%, reducing carbon emissions
