Effect of Sigma Phase Precipitation on the Pitting Corrosion Mechanism of Duplex Stainless Steels

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2018
A new phenomenon of the pitting corrosion of three duplex stainless steels (DSSs), SAF2205, SAF2507 and Z3CN20.09M, induced by sigma phases is found and discussed. The pitting potential (Ep) of all three DSS specimens with smaller variations in the level

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Effect of Zn addition on the microstructures and mechanical behaviors of As-cast Mg-2.5Y-1Ce-0.5Mn alloy

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
The effect of Zn addition on the microstructures and mechanical behaviors of as-cast Mg-2.5Y-1Ce-0.5Mn alloy was investigated. Microstructure observation demonstrated that with the addition of 1wt%, 3wt% and 5wt% Zn, the ternary phases of LPSO phase ...

Effect of niobium in the phase transformation and corrosion resistance of one austenitic-ferritic stainless steel [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2014
Austenitic-ferritic stainless steels containing 0.2% and 0.5% niobium were evaluated with respect to the microstructures, microhardness, pitting potential resistance, electrochemical impedance and wearing tests. Niobium is an alphagenic element and has a

(Global and Local) Fluctuations of Phase Space Contraction in Deterministic Stationary Non-equilibrium

open access: yes, 1998
We studied numerically the validity of the fluctuation theorem, introduced by Evans,Cohen and Morris and proved by Gallavotti and Cohen, for a 2-dimensional system of particles maintained in a steady shear flow by Maxwell daemon boundary conditions (see ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Sigma Decay at Finite Temperature and Density

open access: yes, 2000
Sigma decay and its relation with chiral phase transition are discussed at finite temperature and density in the framework of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Destruction of first-order phase transition in a random-field Ising model

open access: yes, 2007
The phase transitions that occur in an infinite-range-interaction Ising ferromagnet in the presence of a double-Gaussian random magnetic field are analyzed.

Zurek-Kibble domain structures: The Dynamics of Spontaneous Vortex formation in Annular Josephson Tunnel Junctions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Phase transitions executed in a finite time show a domain structure with defects, that has been argued by Zurek and Kibble to depend in a characteristic way on the quench rate.
