Aptamer amplification: divide and signal
Expert Opinion on Medical Diagnostics, 2008Aptamers are selected nucleic acids that bind their targets with affinities and specificities that are often comparable to those of monoclonal antibodies.Although aptamers have been adapted to a wide variety of assay formats, the fact that they are nucleic acids makes them uniquely useful for adaptation to amplification assays.

Noiseless Independent Signal and Power Amplification
Technical Digest. 1998 EQEC. European Quantum Electronics Conference (Cat. No.98TH8326), 1998We present a noiseless optical amplifier comprising a signal-amplifying feed-forward loop and a power-amplifying injection-locked laser. We demonstrate that the signal amplifier can attain a signal-transfer coefficient limited solely by the quantum efficiency of our in-loop photodetector and that we can independently amplify the optical power while ...

Small signal SBS: amplification
SPIE Proceedings, 2007The amplification of small signals was investigated both experimentally and theoretically. The theoretical analysis was provided in terms of unsaturated regime. It is shown, that it is necessary to take into account the temporal shapes of interacting waves. When pump pulse duration is of the order of hupersound phonons lifetime, the Stokes pulse has

Signaling Amplification at the Immunological Synapse
2009The immunological synapse is a dynamic structure, formed between a T cell and one or more antigen-presenting cells, characterized by lipid and protein segregation, signaling compartmentalization, and bidirectional information exchange through soluble and membrane-bound transmitters.

Phase-sensitive optical time-domain reectometry (Φ-OTDR) seems to be the most appropriate solution for acoustic vibration along standard optical fiber detection. In general the sensing system measures phase changes of the received Rayleigh back-scattered signal in the fiber.

DNAzyme amplification of molecular beacon signal
Talanta, 2005This paper reports an improved catalytic molecular beacon. Addition of the target oligonucleotide activates a DNA enzyme (DNAzyme), which, in turn, activates multiple copies of molecular beacons (MB) and gives rise to a strong fluorescence signal.
