Interoceptive Signals Bias Decision Making in Rhesus Macaques

open access: yes
AbstractSeveral influential theories have proposed that interoceptive signals, sent from the body to the brain, contribute to neural processes that coordinate complex behaviors. We altered the physiological state of the body using compounds that have minimal effect on the brain and evaluated their effect on decision-making in rhesus monkeys.

Structural visualization of small molecule recognition by CXCR3 uncovers dual-agonism in the CXCR3-CXCR7 system

open access: yesNature Communications
Chemokine receptors are critically involved in multiple physiological and pathophysiological processes related to immune response mechanisms. Most chemokine receptors are prototypical GPCRs although some also exhibit naturally-encoded signaling-bias ...

Modeling branching and chiral colonial patterning of lubricating bacteria

open access: yes, 1998
In nature, microorganisms must often cope with hostile environmental conditions. To do so they have developed sophisticated cooperative behavior and intricate communication capabilities, such as: direct cell-cell physical interactions via extra-membrane ...

How visual confidence on global motion is affected by local motion ambiguity and type of motion noise, and its correlation with autistic trait tendency?

open access: yes, 2019
Perceptual confidence has been found to correlate with task performance in general, and is believed to be independent of stimulus features. However, certain stimulus feature could induce a subjective sense of uncertainty, which could potentially ...

Signaling bias of the protease-activated receptor-1 is dictated by distinct GRK5 and β-arrestin-2 determinants

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) exhibit signaling bias or preferential activation of heterotrimeric G proteins versus GPCR kinase (GRK)-mediated β-arrestin signaling.
