Synthesis of large-area and aligned copper oxide nanowires from copper thin film on silicon substrate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Large-area and aligned copper oxide nanowires have been synthesized by thermal annealing of copper thin films deposited onto silicon substrate. The effects of the film deposition method, annealing temperature, film thickness, annealing gas, and ...

Formation of Highly Ordered Platinum Nanowire Arrays on Silicon via Laser-Induced Self-Organization

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2019
Laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) provide an elegant solution for the generation of highly ordered periodic patterns on the surface of solids. In this study, LIPSS are utilized for the formation of periodic platinum nanowire arrays.

Nanodot to Nanowire: A strain-driven shape transition in self-organized endotaxial CoSi2 on Si (100)

open access: yes, 2012
We report a phenomenon of strain-driven shape transition in the growth of nanoscale self-organized endotaxial CoSi2 islands on Si (100) substrates. Small square shaped islands as small as 15\times15 nm2 have been observed.

Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy in Bionanotechnology: Current Advances and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) enables the nanoscale mapping of electrostatic surface potentials. While widely applied in materials science, its use in biological systems remains emerging. This review presents recent advances in KPFM applied to biological samples and provides a critical perspective on current limitations and future directions for

Theoretical Study of Carbon Clusters in Silicon Carbide Nanowires

open access: yesJournal of Nanotechnology, 2011
Using first-principles methods we performed a theoretical study of carbon clusters in silicon carbide (SiC) nanowires. We examined small clusters with carbon interstitials and antisites in hydrogen-passivated SiC nanowires growth along the [100] and [111]

Finite Size Effect on Nanomechanical Mass Detection: Role of Surface Elasticity

open access: yes, 2011
Nanomechanical resonators have recently been highlighted because of their remarkable ability to perform the sensing and detection. Since the nanomechanical resonators are characterized by large surface-to-volume ratio, it is implied that the surface ...
