Phenolic acids in kernels of different coloured-grain wheat genotypes

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2020
The content of free, conjugated and bound phenolic acids in 12 wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes of 4 different grain colours (standard red, yellow endosperm, purple pericarp and blue aleurone) from 2-year field trial was analysed in the present ...

Sinapic Acid Degradation by the Yeast Rhodotorula glutinis [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology, 1986
SUMMARY: The degradation of sinapic acid, a monomer of hardwood lignins, by the yeast Rhodotorula glutinis was studied. Syringic acid, 3-O-methyl gallic acid, gallic acid and 2,6-dimethoxy-1,4-benzoquinone were identified as degradation products. Glucose was shown to be required for the demethylation of the methoxy groups on the ring.

Identification and Characterization of DcUSAGT1, a UDP-Glucose: Sinapic Acid Glucosyltransferase from Purple Carrot Taproots. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Purple carrots accumulate abundant cyanidin-based anthocyanins in taproots. UDP-glucose: sinapic acid glucosyltransferase (USAGT) can transfer the glucose moiety to the carboxyl group of sinapic acid thereby forming the ester bond between the carboxyl-C ...

Sinapic Acid Protects SH-SY5Y Human Neuroblastoma Cells against 6-Hydroxydopamine-Induced Neurotoxicity

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2021
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is characterized by progressive dopaminergic neuron loss or dysfunction and is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder after Alzheimer’s disease. However, current therapeutic strategies for PD are limited to treating

The recovery of sinapic acid from the waste permeate from yellow mustard protein isolation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A process for recovering sinapic acid from waste permeate generated from processing yellow mustard protein isolate has been developed. Due to the low concentration of solids in the waste permeate, a nanofilter with molecular weight cut-off of 1000Da was ...

Fluidized bed treatment of rapeseed meal and cake as possibility for the production of canolol

open access: yesOilseeds and fats, crops and lipids, 2014
Canolol (2,6-dimethoxy-4-vinylphenol, 4-vinylsyringol), which is formed by thermally initiated CO2splitting off from sinapic acid, possesses a high antioxidant potential.

Small scale purification and biophysical characterization of haptoglobin derived from human Cohn fraction IV

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
Abstract Haptoglobin (Hp) is a polymorphic acute phase α‐2 glycoprotein found in plasma that plays a critical role in binding, neutralizing, and removing cell‐free hemoglobin (Hb) from the circulation. Under clinical conditions characterized by high levels of hemolysis, such as in patients with sickle cell disease (SCD), large quantities of cell‐free ...

Advances in protein–polyphenol complexation: Unraveling mechanisms, modulation, and functional outcomes

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, EarlyView.
Abstract Polyphenolic compounds have attracted increasing market demand and extensive attention due to their potential health benefits and bioactivities. Meanwhile, proteins are widely used in the food industry for their nutritional and functional properties. However, the application of proteins in the food industry is often limited by challenges, such

Sinapic Acid Reduces Oxidative Stress and Pyroptosis via Inhibition of BRD4 in Alcoholic Liver Disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2021
Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is one of the main causes of death in chronic liver disease. Oxidative stress and pyroptosis are important factors leading to ALD.
