Characterisation of Drug Delivery Efficacy Using Microstructure-Assisted Application of a Range of APIs

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2020
Polymer-based solid microstructures (MSts) have the potential to significantly increase the quantity and range of drugs that can be administered across the skin.

Permeation of skin with (C60) fullerene dispersions [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering in Life Sciences, 2017
Dispersions in transcutol/isopropyl myristate make C60 fullerene molecules suitable for transdermal delivery. We found that C60 can successfully permeate the skin using pig skin in Franz diffusion cells. Molecular dynamics simulations and transmission electron microscopy confirmed these observations.

Using pH abnormalities in diseased skin to trigger and target topical therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Purpose: The pH discrepancy between healthy and atopic dermatitis skin was identified as a site specific trigger for delivering hydrocortisone from microcapsules.

In Vitro Permeation of Micronized and Nanonized Alaptide from Semisolid Formulations

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
This study is focused on in vitro permeation of the original Czech compound, a skin/mucosa tissue regeneration promoter, known under the international nonproprietary name “alaptide,” in micronized and nanonized forms.

Microneedle-Assisted Percutaneous Delivery of a Tetramethylpyrazine-Loaded Microemulsion

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
This study examined the efficacy of the percutaneous delivery of a tetramethylpyrazine-loaded microemulsion (TMP-ME) on skin pretreated with microneedles (MN).

Enhancement of Skin Delivery of Drugs Using Proposome Depends on Drug Lipophilicity

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2021
The study aims to investigate the propylene glycol-based liposomes named ‘proposomes’ in enhancing skin permeation of drugs with different physicochemical properties. Ibuprofen, tofacitinib citrate, rhodamine B, and lidocaine were loaded into proposomes.

Accelerating topical anaesthesia using microneedles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background/Aims: Topical anaesthetics reduce pain during venous access procedures in children. However, clinical use is hindered by a significant anaesthetic onset time.

Contribution of the Hair Follicular Pathway to Total Skin Permeation of Topically Applied and Exposed Chemicals

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2016
Generally, the blood and skin concentration profiles and steady-state skin concentration of topically applied or exposed chemicals can be calculated from the in vitro skin permeation profile. However, these calculation methods are particularly applicable

Oxybutynin-Nanoemulgel Formulation as a Successful Skin Permeation Strategy: In-vitro and ex-vivo Evaluation

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2022
Among different topical drug delivery systems, nanoemulsions (NEs) are attractive due to enhanced skin permeation potential and minimum toxicity. Topical nanoemulgels (NEMGELs) contain both gelling agents and NEs and thus can enhance skin permeation with

Recent developments in skin mimic systems to predict transdermal permeation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In recent years there has been a drive to create experimental techniques that can facilitate the accurate and precise prediction of transdermal permeation without the use of in vivo studies.
